It would be nice to have a hold to sprint feature.
I sweat they had some console dev with no PC platform game development experience working on controls.
Honestly, go bother another thread, I'm sure they'll add it in a patch soon.
No there isn't, stop confusing people with wrong info.
Go to
C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age The Veilguard\settings\
(be careful - YOURNAME is your windows username!)
Open the file named ProfileOptions_profile with Notepad.
Find this line:
GstInput.DylanOption_ToggleSprint 2
Change it to this:
GstInput.DylanOption_ToggleSprint 1
It will give you a proper hold to sprint.
Changing to 0 seems to give a normal toggle instead of the horrible default “push to sprint, go to full stop to stop sprinting”:
GstInput.DylanOption_ToggleSprint 0
Dude, I literally switched from my work PC to test this immediately and you are f-king right! (!!!!)
Thank you and thank r457!
Pinning your answer!
I’m just a messenger here, because r457 is busy. All the thanks go to him.
This “auto toggle” for sprint is the worst possible implementation for keyboard and mouse that gives the players the least control. Imagine: you’re in combat, you’ve got a red attack zone cast over your character and you need to leave the zone quickly while continuing with combat. With hold to sprint you just hold sprint for a moment to speed up and then release when you’re out of the zone. With your “auto toggle” you press shift, leave the zone, then stop fully and only then you will be able to resume your normal movement… that is unless you get hit/killed because you stopped. Do console players attack while standing still? Because this bizarre design appeared recently with the rise of console game ports. Or it works differently with gamepads and you drop out of the sprint by decreasing your left stick amplitude?
Got nothing against consoles in general, but it’s a fact that toggles come from that left stick click - you can’t hold it, it’s not possible. And because nowadays’ devs tend to be lazy, they transfer this pattern to KB&M directly which is gamebreaking multiplied by the fact they also force max speed as default (walk is a joke in most cases because it’s too slow). And they even allow controllers to dictate game design: why do you think we’ve got 4 active skills? A, B, X, Y? On PC we’ve got all sorts of modern gaming keypads even with analogue keys, yes, we can have that analogue movement! While controllers are stuck in the past and instead of improving them, devs give up and cut their gameplay systems to fit… or they themselves come from console generation and are used to those boundaries. Tap action designed for controllers is horrible for keyboards and especially mouse - it kills them. Yet devs continue to advertise their games as having full PC support.
and yes, big thanks to r457 once more! not the devs! and it was probably done in no time while devs take ages to produce those
