100% cpu usage
I have a amd ryzen 7 5800x 8- core processor and I just launched the game. It s the first time i see my cpu working at 100% . is this normal?

If you start the game for the first time, your shaders are being calculated. This takes a lot of processing power. That also is the explanation why some people see a black screen for a while at the first start. That last is reported as a game start failure, while in reality the CPU is busy calculating those shaders.

After the shaders are calculated, the next game start only checks those shaders and starts up a lot faster.

Be prepared to have a new shader calculation if you upgrade your video drivers to a newer version. It takes a few seconds to a few minutes depending on your CPU. Weaker hardware will take a bit longer.

If you haven't already done, try limiting your framerate to 60fpsfx . The Frostbite Engine is heavy on the CPU with higher framerates. I have a 7800x3D, and if i uncap my fps my CPU usage is in the high 90's. Limiting it to 60fps it sits at around 30-50% usage.

I ll try that, thanks

It went down to 70-80% when i got in game.
But when i first launched it it was compiling shaders and I could hear how my pc turned into a helicopter ready to take off.

For gameplay try the solution the other guy found.

I limit my fps to 60. This way it s below 80% and the fps stay more stable.

Theres also a registry hack on the nexus mods. Ive scanned the file and edited it to check for anything untoward but its fine. That also helped me tons.

13600k hitting 80 percent usage, the game is a bit of a pig there’s no reason for it to use that much cpu resources, I can lock 90 fps on averages and 1 percent lows but the 0.1’s are all over the place, Maby this should just be a 60 fps game

Yeah it seems to be acting strangely recently, I'm also getting extreme lag compared to when I first started playing.

I have a 14700k hitting 100% on launch and while compiling shaders. Is there a way to reduce this because it causes my game to crash before the shaders are done? I launch the game 3-6 times before I can play…

My Intel i7-11850H doesn't get above ~6% and I have yet to see a "shader" screen on startup. I'm running a 3060 GPU with the game set on a mix of High/Ultra settings with no RT.

Compiling shaders is a really good stress test/health check for your system. It's what exposed a lot of 13th/14th gen Intel CPUs as degraded as running at 100% will quickly out issues or validate a system running A-ok. It's somewhat rarer for the issue with games there to be the shader compilation process itself and that's generally caught and patched early.

Update your bios so you can see if you can force a semblance of stability. Your CPU had its warranty extended because it has generational well known degradation issues. I would see about getting a new one and then making sure its running on a system with the latest bios. Usually if a 13th or 14 gen Intel is crashing on shader compilations, the damage has already been done.

Ive tried most of these options but im still hitting above 90 degrees. This will be a back burner game for now. just put a new cooler in recently and has no affect.

I make sure to cap the fps to 60 every time i launch but yeah, game is greedy and still heats up a lot
