Game crash before start!
Game keep crashing when start with an error box.

The error box:

DirectX function
"m_render->createSwapChain(&swapChainDesc,
&fullscreenDesc,m_hWnd, &m_swapChain.assignGet())" failed
with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED ("The video card has been
physically removed from the system, or a driver upgrade for the
video card has occured. "). GPU: "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060
Laptop GPU", Driver:56603. This error is usually caused by the
graphics driver crashing; try install the latest
drivers.DeviceRemovedReason: S_OK ("No error occured.").
GPUBreadcrimb:

I have updated the GPU driver to the latest version (if it's 566.03).
Please help! Thank you.

Yeah me too.
Are either of you guys using windows 11? If so try reinstalling Windows. Sometimes it just decides graphics drivers/your graphics card doesn't exist.

Hmm just had this crash happen to me first time. Not super far into it I don't think but happened during a chat with Eve. Everything had been running great to that point.

i got that error during the game, after playing around 3 hours :calm_creep:
Same here, been trying to fix it for hours now, no luck so far...

Obviously some are playing it. Check your background programs. Some games and other apps do not play well together.

Try two things:

1) Go into the install directory and delete the contents of the shader_cache folder
2) Under NVidia Control Panel (if using NVidia card), under global, set the shader cache size to 10 or 100 GB (whatever you can handle). It's set to unlimited by default.

I did both things and got it running.
On steamdeck immediately after character creation it froze so hard i had to force a shutdown. It froze a second time before i could even finish the prologue. Utter garbage. Refunded.

Sadly, neither works for me...

Hmm well all I did was check for updates in windows etc, then rebooted my pc. Played perfect for a couple hours hadn't had that crash occur again at all. May have been related to alt-tabbing at one point in that previous run idk. Though it sounds like this is a persistant issue for others =/
