Does shader compiling normally take this long?
I'm only at 15% in compiling the shaders for the past 30 minutes. I've never had it take this long?

For real, mine seems to be going faster than you, but 30min later and not at 50%

its abnormally long, but its probably worth it. as long as its a one time thing only.

Thanks for the responses! Heres to hoping it is indeed worth it :)

issue being, shaders eat up potential refund-time.

just tested it. upon restart it verifies the cache which is way faster than compiling. this process hopefully eliminates any stutter from spontaneous shader loading however.

I know, it's taking as long as downloading this game. What nonsense is this?

It verifies every time I launch. Any way to fix it?

It's been more than 5 minutes for me, and I'm under 11%. It's likely to take ~45 minutes. As long as it's one-time only...

I agree with Simka. While I don't think I'll refund the game, someone who's on the fence and might refund would understandably find this very concerning.

Shader compilation on an i5-12400f lasted about 10 minutes. However, whenever I restart the game, it starts verifying the shaders, which again takes about 10 minutes with the CPU pegged at 100% the whole time. Others haver reported that shader verification lasts only a couple of seconds.

R9 3900x and a 3070ti shader compilation took 8 minutes on first boot after an Nvidia update and was nearly instant on relaunch

Took me 10ish minutes too, but second start was much, much faster, so yeah it's more or less a one time thing^^

It's one more time every time you update your GPU driver.

FIX: Go into your local files and delete the shaders_cache folder
rofflesvanwagon Oct 31, 2024 @ 4:55pm
The game is compiling the sins of the past as well to add to your gpu and cpu cycles
Mvpsince91 Oct 31, 2024 @ 5:17pm
but does it count towards play time?
