If you thought the english version was bad, look at what they did to the GERMAN version of the game

So the english version uses inclusive language, like they/them, right? Well, that's nothing compared to what they did to the German localized version of the game.

In this forum post (https://maniac-forum.de/forum/pxmboard.php?mode=message&brdid=1&msgid=5422479), the project manager for all localization brags about how he and his team applied fully gendered German language to the game, both in written and spoken text. What this means? Let me explain:

There is no singular "they" in German. So what the German localization team did was to use so-called "neo pronouns", pronouns that didnt really exist until trans-activists made them up. So now the game is full of the neo pronoun "hen/hem" and at the end of nouns there is an "-e" attached (imagine in English there's a guard, then with German gendering, it'd be "guarde". And if that wasn't enough, they're also using stuff like the gender star * and the double point :.

Heres an example if this were applied to English:

"Hen is a capable fightere, but the leader*ess of the troupe is not a reasonable person:ess."

No option to turn this off. A hundred million dollar project self-sabotaged by political activism. Reminder: The vast majority of German citizen is against this sort of language. There was zero need for it. But EA let it happen anyway. As a German, the worst part of this is that I have no hope for Mass Effect 5 now ...

I almost chocked on my Coffee just now. If I saw such a Message in-Game, I'd immediately turn it off and refund lol. I think it's always funny when I hear people complaining about being Anti-Woke, like it's some grand Crime against Humanity, Morals and Religion??.

I can't stand anti woke rhetoric, but that is nigh on incomprehensible. I had to read it three times before I understood it. Also, why is medicus okay to use? The female would be medica, so having the male be the default goes against the principle, does it not? Not to mention the translation itself sounds terrible even if you ignore the butchering of the language.

And just like the push up scene, if serious, is ableist, so is this actually, as it's going to be a complete nightmare for dyslexic people.

Imagine if this becomes the norm in games from now on? I feel sorry for German gamers.

For me, personally, I want as little modern lingo in fantasy games as possible. So hearing people say stuff like "non-binary" in English takes me out of the world. I can't imagine what it must feel like trying to immerse yourself in the world in German.
