My face is tired too, and what happened was game director without experience running the show and writers projecting their political views through the writing of characters. It lacked quality assurance, the game director for this was Corinne Busche, who prior to Veilguard had absolute ZERO experience with handling the RPG genre. If you google the person up, you'll see what they are and it lines perfectly with what the game turned out to be.

More hope for next Mass Effect though since those people will be decision makers for it:
-The Executive Producer/Project Director, Mike Gamble, who was tangentially involved in ME2, and more involved in ME3 as an Associate Producer, and finally as a Producer (later promoted to Lead) on Andromeda;
-The Art Director, Derek Watts, who also occupied that same role for the whole OT;
-The Creative Director, Parrish Ley, who was Lead Cinematic Animator for ME2/3;
-The Game Director, Preston Watamaniuk, who was Lead Designer for the whole OT.

Dunno how to feel about Patrick Weeks, who was a lead writer for Veilguard and made Taash, because Weeks also wrote Tali and Mordin. I assume the 'head' of the project for Veilguard was just incompetent, which is why it's just so bad.
i was pondering why was okami's story engaging despite the nonsensical wubwubwubs as voices and pretty disney-esque writing on top of zero choices.

something is just way more off about veilguard than meets the eye beyond poor writing and poor freedom of choice. and i dont mean specifically taash or w/e she they brings in.

yea it saddens me just thinking of this game, i liked dai to play through the whole game and dlc. i didnt know trick lol wrote tali and mordin, nearly every character in Mass effect was well written... i guess when he trans formed into who he is now or whatever looks like it wrote horrible characters.

i really hope mass effect comes out ok but im feeling doubtful.

haha at this point id rather play framing simulator than this pile of trash, yea only game coming soon is actually flight sim coming to game pass in a week. i have a good feeling about it, although the release of the last one was kinda buggy.

itll be like 12$ plus a few other games i want to try out. metal slug tactics, octopath 2 bout halfway done and some mana games, maybe even call of duty. sure beats spending 60$ just to be disapointed in DA

Also, additional news about mass effect, it will NOT be on frostbite, but unreal engine (Original trilogy was also on it) and good, because frostbite is clunky and it was responsible for Andromeda's terrible animations. Veilguard is also on this terrible engine, which might explain why character models are so weird.
well unreal is good for hiring talented devs, but it also means they are going to slack on technical aspects. i fully expect it to run really poor on older machines and requiring like a 3080 or something silly for decent graphics at 1080p with frame gen on lmao.

at least it will be easier to mod and easier to develop the modding tools for.

I didn't know that. I was under the impression that Tali and Mordin, along with most if not all of the cast of ME were written by Mac Walters and/or Drew Karpyshyn.

I think what you are describing is immersive and consistent experience. I dunno much about Okami, If you are talking about this one https://store.steampowered.com/app/587620/Okami_HD/)
Every game is suppose to let the user/player experience the world that the creator created with it's own logic, lore and rules. When there is something the brings you out of that immersion like for example, she-hulk breaking the fourth wall talking about some weird crap instead of being she-hulk suppose to be. There is a clear difference between Deadpool fourth wall breaking and she-hulks fourth wall breaking because deadpool stays in character when doing it while she-hulk don't.

the ending is not even worth knowing. i stopped playing on my PS5 after 22 hrs. i need to free my mind of its trashiness in preparation for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 :er_heart:

yes this game. suppose all of the factors that make a game's story, "engaging" as i put it, are not equal.

okami has much less in voice acting, much less in choices (not even the different yes choices) and much less in writing on top of having to be passed through translation.

it just seems unreal that okami still strikes ahead of veilguard in regards to an "engaging" story.

Drew created the universe, Mac Walters wrote Garrus and Cerberus. Drew was the lead writer for Mass Effect 1, before being put to work on SWTOR (which is odd thing to do). When Mac Walters took over, you can see why Mass Effect 2 and 3 Cerberus was so important. I think Mac also wrote Liara, which might be why she was so highlighted.

I don't honestly mind Weeks working on the next mass effect team, he can write good, I guess he just needs someone competent to review the writing he does. I assume Corinne wanted strong trans representation and modern slang in Veilguard and that's how Taash happened or maybe he just isn't cut out to be lead writer. Hopefuly Mike Gamble will keep him in check this time.

Weeks wrote also Legion and Javik.

It's not uncommon for good writers (or any artist for that matter) to be less than adequate in a lead position. Likewise, some excellent leads aren't particularly skilled in their chosen specialisation. What should have happened is for Weekes to write the draft and then take a consultant position for the team. Still, the horse has bolted, now.
