Can't win as a mage

I've completed the game as a Warrior twice without too much difficulty. I would really like to complete it as a mage but I've tried a few different play styles and I just can't win as a mage. I got to level 30 on my latest attempt but the last few levels were a struggle and I've given up on it too. What am I doing wrong.

On my beam build, I paired a lot of armor and other bits that give extra mag. I had so much mag, you should look for those pieces. I forget what they were, but I could use my beam to delete people and rarely ever run out of mag.

Also look for any enchants that give extra mag/recovery.

I tried some suggestions and made progress but not enough. Someone suggested Channelled Thoughts and that helped. But at lvl 31 I can't get do the House of the Dead Emmrich quest and I can't even do any of the gate champion quests that appear as quests in your journal. I was doing those well before lvl 30 as a warrior. I've given up. I'll have to be satisfied with winning the game as a warrior. Dropping down in difficulty is not an option because the game is so easy it is pointless.

As a starter, I really like the skills in this build. I paired it with everything that gives max mag and mag recovery, except for two. I had one armor that gave defense and one that gave crit. I wish I could recall the names.

I hope that helps some. :/ I can imagine how frustrating it is, that's partly why I was scared to play warrior lol.

As a Mage spellblade with a electricity focus mixed with fire and using orb i had super easy time beating the game. I think mage starts out harder, but ends up being easier as your level increases as long as you keep increasing you gear as well and enchanting gear too.

Good luck. I tried playing my third character as mage and ended up restarting her right after liberating Lucanis since I knew some much harder fights were coming. I imported her into the character creator and changed her class to warrior. "Rook" is aggro'ed out the butt in every fight, and I thought the mage felt like tissue paper. So now I have four warriors and a rogue. LOL

I don't think the others suck, but that Necro skill line is ridiculous. I was level 30+ when I got the full skill tree unlocked and it was easy sailing from there. I didn't use all the weapons and armor they suggested because there is a skill in Necro that doubles the cost of your skills, so I wanted more maga and maga regen. I focused on that and paired it with Necro and Crit. I was a destroyer of monsters! ;p
