You're preaching to the choir. The game's rough around the edges, but the core is solid and feels like something (amusingly enough) from the period right before Dragon Age (which had multiple story DLC and an expansion pack). Makes me think that a certain type of "gamer" doesn't care about better games. They're just hear on the tour.
Long term - if BioWare continues to fail (which is looking increasingly more likely), it's possible the studio will be shut down entirely and its intellectual properties sold to the highest bidder. While selling the properties won't recuperate their monumental losses, at least they may reduce them a bit.
That's the company line so it must be true!
That means the story is shallow and the game is a dead end.
I don't follow him, but just look at the player drop. 70k to 10k in just a few weeks. If it was a good RPG people would be trying multiple playthroughs and new players would be buying in. For it to shrink this quickly says it's a linear story and there's not much to do.
Even the discussion sections main defender is saying there'd be no point to creating DLC. They think that's a it's a defense of DA Veilguard to say the developers announced a month out they had no plans for DLC content, but what that really says is either they knew that there wouldn't be interest in expanding the story, or their world is so shallow they couldn't think of anything to add to it. Really I think it's a combination of creative bankruptcy and knowing the players were going to reject their subpar product.
