Spoiler! How important are Companion Quests?

Do I need to finish them at some point to progress or are they optional?
Like do you have to do them to unlock some special powers or skills?
I am just curious if I have to do them all one by one or can ignore them if I dont feel like it and just focus on the main quest?

They're optional but work like 'loyalty' in the Mass Effect trilogy. In this one it's called 'veilguard status' and not having that status will effect how the end game plays out

You get a special outfit and an extra skill per companion for completing their quest sets

You want all your companions to be "hero of veilguard" status before the final act or it can negatively impact their outcome in that fight

Treat this like Mass Effect 2. If you don't do the companion quests, decent chance they'll die in the endgame.
