Hell tf yes. It may not matter to teh story but inquistion in every way is a superior game unless you want a partial modern action game with agenda writing and lost lore. Inquistion may not expand the lor like origins but it refrences enough and does its job to engage you with the politics of it.
Only 3 choices were transferred from that game specifically. The only real annoying thing of Inquisition is the War Table missions. For a few of them you'll have to either save and wait for them to complete, adjust your computer timer to finish them out, or add the War Table mod to make all the mission timers on that table complete instantly.
If you want the achievements for Inquisition it has to be unmodded (unless there is another mod that some how allows you to still get them that I'm not aware of).
A lot of new DA fans came from that game alone.
So there is basicly no reason left to play inquisition aside from the story line which is not that important, although you would get some more background on some characters and some concepts.
People who are complaining about Inquisition decisions not carrying over are missing the point entirely, and truthfully that's nothing new for the DA series.
There's a reason Inquisition lost so many DAO fans, because they were upset that a lot of their choices weren't just not taken into consideration. I view these things as inevitable if you want to tell a good story, but there are a lot of retcons I take issue with in Inquisition. The point is you can't satisfy everyone.
The fact of the matter is that with choices matter RPGs, a decision has to be made eventually on what is cannon and what is not, and everyone's choices cannot be cannon. There is not a writing room or development team on the planet that is big enough and nuanced enough to handle that kind of project. I wouldn't be surprised if part of the development issues that occurred is because they tried to make everyone's choices carry over into this game, and it's a fool's errand.
It disappoints those that are upset that their choices were largely inconsequential (especially when they're built up to be like in the character creator), and it boxes you in a lot in terms of writing. It's the worst of both worlds, and I really wish they would have kept it at the Inquisitor being Elf female that romanced Solas to tell the most coherent story. It's largely been considered the most likely option by the community for years now, even by those that do not romance Solas or play an Elf female character (like me). It doesn't take away from Inquisition either.
I'll always prefer a more coherent story that stays relevant over the course of the game over a writing room that bites off far more than it can chew. In Veilguard it seems like they tried and then gave up, hid Solas for the majority of the game, and a lot of the writing throughout does seem like it's trying to play catchup to the new story direction. It's not really disrespectful to the lore, nor are there a myriad of retcons, but the tone for the dialogue is way off and the story is noncommittal and largely self-contained.
Plus you sort of lose out on a lot of info related to Solas, if you dont play Inquisition or at least watch a story summary on it.
I played almost 3000 hours in DAI alone and 1000th of hours in all DA games. It doesn't matter playing it with only 3 choices you can choose from in DAV. Choose your options in DAV, forget the old games because they are obsolete now.
They tried that with Andromeda and people hated it. I loved it, but the majority didn't I think.
The could have done a better job pullings things from DA:I into this game, but I think DA:5 will be better.
What is going on in DA:V will matter more to you and make more sense to you. It's like only reading Return of the King, the last Lord of the Rings novel, without reading the two that came before it and The Hobbit. Still totally readable but you are missing loads of context.
Plus, Inquisition is a better game than DA:V so it should go first for that reason alone.
