Veilguard is a massive SUCCESS cry about it!
Right now, The Veilguard sits at a strong 84 on review aggregate site Metacritic, which is about on par with previous entries in the Dragon Age series. The original Dragon Age: Origins scored an 86, while Inquisition landed close at 84. Meanwhile, Dragon Age II, perhaps the most divisive game in the series, holds a 79. Despite some mixed reviews here and there, The Veilguard is a massive success, both critically and commercially, with impressive sales numbers reflecting a strong reception from fans. Some reviewers, like YouTuber ENDYMIONtv and Asmongold, express dissatisfaction, openly stating they “do not recommend” it. But this divisiveness is to be expected. What are fans so split on? Well, it seems, just about everything. After a decade of shifting between fan and skeptic, I was unsure if The Veilguard would win me back. However, The Veilguard pulled me back when I couldn’t have been more doubtful. The slow-burn story had me genuinely thrilled by its finale, and the new cast of heroes climbed into my personal top ranks of BioWare’s RPG casts. Although the game deviates from the series’ tactical roots, its action-based combat is a blast, offering fresh ways to experiment. Ultimately, The Veilguard feels like a return to BioWare's heyday, both a nod to what the studio does best and an undeniable success in its own right.

A success to one person with an opinion, yes. An objective success in a capitalist economy? Not even close.

Gamestops trade in value is solid evidence the game bombed

Stores bought a ♥♥♥♥ ton thinking the game would sell like cakes lol...sales are to come on steam soon too

I just said this in another thread but worth mentioning here. I scrolled through the Steam reviews for 2 minutes and they are almost all thumbs down. Just a wall of red downturned thumbs with an occasional blue one. There's no way that score they are showing isn't fixed.

I know people think this is bait, but you guys should go back and look at how Dragon Age 2 and Dragon Age Inquisition, especially Inquisition despite winning GOTY, were received. All the DA games after Origins got dragged through the mud then later on seen in more positive view once people settled down. I expect the same for Veilguard then the cycle will repeat with the next DA game.

If I may speak for the long standing Dragon Age fans. Its not even the Wokism in the game..
They Ruined what Dragon Age is. DAV removed Every single Important Core Aspect of what made Dragon Age a Dragon Age game. Literally not 1 core aspect remains in the game. Which of itself ruins the game..

Its literally just a 2bit Generic ass RPG 101 that bears the Dragon Age name.. Not to mention the changes to Creatures.

Pride Demons literally look like a Discounter Magic the Gathering Monster now... Like wtf? they looked amazing before.. The new looks for Darkspawn also suck.. I mix them up with Qunari all the damn time.

Fact is, Wokeism in the game is not the reason it failed. It is a part, but I think the things I mentioned far outweigh the Wokeness in the Game. By leaps and Bounds.

The sequels were all objectively worse than Origins. People just slowly acclimated to the fact that they were going to get slop served up from now on. Most people still acknowledge that Origins was the best in the series. Just because people slowly get used to mediocrity, or worse, that doesn't mean we should sit idly by and accept it.

People use "objectively" way too freely. Some people consider Origins the best DA game, yeah, that doesn't make it true though. Kinda hard to claim one entry to the entire franchise is the best when the franchise in question changes with each new game.

You're free to like what you like, I'm not going to argue with you which DA game is the best because that varies depending on the person.

What's the user score on Metacritic? Hint, extremely low. And how many "positive" Steam reviews were negative the entire way but then have a thumbs up? Hmm...

I can ask someone if they like Dragon Age and if they say yes I know they'll play anything, even cellphone games.

You've put more effort into that post than the writers did in any of the dialogue, I'll at least give you that. Still though, no jester for you.

Metacritic score is going down, the User Score is 3.8 out of 10.
IGN has posted an updated review that negates their positive shill review.
Player numbers could not even beat the BETA for another game in Veilguards opening week and is now trending at less than half of the players online.
And we have seen numerous reports of returns of the game to the point even Game Stop slashed its buy back price during the games first week.

This is anything but a Commercial success... This is truly a disaster for Bioware to the point its even shaken development of other games...

Why mention Metacritic as if it's a reliable source? You don't even have to prove you own the product in question that you're leaving a review for. I could go leave a review saying RDR2 has the worst story ever despite me not owning the game and never playing it.

Personally I judge games myself, but if I were to take reviews into consideration it'd be on gaming platforms like Steam where only users that own the game can leave reviews and you can see their playtime at the time of the review.

If you read a lot of negative reviews for Veilguard on Metacritic, most of them is just the typical "game bad" not constructive criticism. Likely people that don't own the game.

The Last of Us 2 was also another example of people not owning the game but review bombing it on Metacritic.

lets use the steam reviews then. first 4 were "I didnt really like the game the best, it has some good parts, but overall the quality has dropped. Giving a thumbs up for Trans"

You can go by the first 4 reviews if you want, but for others reading reviews to see whether the game is actually decent or not instead of using it to trash the game, they could look at some of the more constructive reviews, both positive and negative.
