Chests and Loot
So I know that at least in the final chapter the gear upgrades you get from chests is random. I want to know if this applies to before that though.

I started a new character just to test this out more and I've gotten to Treviso to rescue Lucanis and none of the gear so far has been random but I've also not gotten a piece for each slot yet so it might not start until then.

Gold and material amounts both change even on the very first chest you see. As does whether or not a trap is on a chest. It doesn't seem like valuables change though.

Can anyone else test this in different parts of the game?

there is no random, each equip has its spot. the only thing what is changing is your class. For example if cheast a has a longsword when playing warrior, it has now a dagger when playing mage.

resource chest could be random in contents but not amount, but since ressources respawn after a bit it dosent really mathers

I'm aware that the loot is class specific but there is some randomness, at least in the final area and I show that here. Both chests I open in the video have random gold amounts and a random item each time I open them.

If the other chests aren't random, why would this area allow you to savescum the chest contents? Could it be an oversight? Or maybe intentional to let someone get a specific piece that an npc doesn't sell right before you fight the final boss?

gold= ressources. resources are random but dosent really mather since all respawn after a while.
The equip (armor weapons) have their specific place. atleast the first ones and the reds you get. It could be taht if you got the items that the upgrades are random, atleast on this chest. Every other chest is could just farm when i want a specific item get an upgrade.

edit i wish steam would do something about the "you cant watch it here". why they let us put the videos in here when you have to go to yt to watch it in the end

You are strictly speaking in tutorial mode, till you unlock the Crossroads, so that stuff is fixed. Boss chests are fixed, but think rest is randomise. Else there would be at least one "Get this OP item to Legendary fast, by opening these chests", rather then just "Find this OP item here."

Depends if you only open chests till you got all available normal versions and only buy uprades (dont buy other new ones) you can make them really fast to legendary. Only in at 50 hours (-20 because i start new class) and got a few legends now, besides the ones that are isntant legend you can get.
I wish tehre where some indicator how far i got in the game like a % for story

Thats not "fixed loot", thats just reducing the loot table, assuming thats how it works and it was not just RNG in your favor.

I assume that regardless of how you do it, there is enough chests and vendors, to get everything upgraded, by the end of the game?

an its still not random BEFORE you have thenormal instances of the equips. for example chest a has staff a, chest b has staff b. everytime you go there. except if you allready have staff a (bought) than you have an random upgrade in chest a

I think in theory could be done that you can get everything on legend, but that would mean finding all chests (still need one in the forest) and having maxed out one of the choice factions to buy everything before the vendor is gone. But that would mean farming like hell to sell

So its "Fixed loot" till the player brakes it by shopping? Bit weird design, but that means in theory that there should be left over chests, if you get everything you come across... Unless they built loot scarcity into the game...

nah the shopping would only be a "i get it before the chest" if you buy it before you get an upgrade in the chest, if you chest before you got the upgrade on the vendor. Dosnet know what happens if you got all upgrades out of chests and than talk to a vendor, but i think it just vanished from the vendor than

1. Mage gets staff from the three bosses before the green dragon. 2. Mage does not get staff.

I am not sure. I found heavy body armor in a chest where my buddy got a bow from.

The most funny thing there also can be duplicates of already golden armor. I wear one golden armor for a long time now, and just got one more of the same for the quest Davrin gave me (the one you save gryphons in). There was an animation of "upgrade" even, despite the armor was already golden and nothing changed... Lol
I wish they upgraded my purple ring instead. I get any loot but not this ring.
