Grey Warden or Mourn Watch?
My initial impression is to go for Grey Wardens cause I am aware of how they can be tied so heavily into the overall plot of the game, but what about the Mourn Watch?

Has anyone picked that one for their main? Does it get referenced a lot? Especially once you hit Nevarra?

I conscripted the mayor as a Grey Warden and not once was I told that he saved someone. He just stood around at Lavendel. When my Warden speaks to him he just grumbles about being alive or something. If you let him die, you later see him as a darkspawn who talks. You kill him and never mention him again.

Grey Wardens always struck me as kinda boring. Sure they save the world every few centuries but they never get laid. It might be fun growing up in Halloween town and making your dead grandma dance for amusement

My Antivan Crow got this as well.

i went for lord of fortune for my first playthrough. if i was min maxing itd depend on the class but id think veil jumpers for rogue and then antivan crow or shadow dragon for mage. warrior i guess antivan or grey warden.

Am I missing something, here? How is your reply in any way related to Mourn Watch? It's my impression that Rain wants to know what the rp value of MW is like, compared with Grey Wardens.

I am playing a Warden and there is a lot of Warden dialog options in the game when you are a Warden.
As for them Mourn Watch, just Emmrich alone.

I did both.

Grey Wardens seem to have the most unique dialogue options outside of dealing with their faction, and within your faction you still have as much as others. Plus your Rook already knows two of the best characters in the game, the Warden couple Antoine and Evka.

Mourn Watcher is still good, and seems to be near the top, especially if you're a Deathcaller Mage because there's a lot of unique dialogue with Emmerich.

I played a handful of characters through the first act-ish and Grey Warden absolutely got the most unique dialog. I think Bioware knew most people would pick that origin. Stuff like Shadow Dragon will get some unique dialog at their base for example, but it just doesn't impact the game the same way IMO.

Something to consider as well, you have no choice but to be a good-hearted hero in this game. So if you have a class fantasy of being an evil necromancer or whatever there is no option for that, and you should not pick that origin for that reason. Same with the Crows, who have been retconned into freedom fighters.

I am playing veil jumper, which had some very early tie ins and periodically I get the tree symbol dialogue to reference it in some way. I am also playing an elf, so I appreicated the conversations between him and Bellara refering to 'our gods' and the like. Of course, I played a Daelish Elf back in Origins as well because I was interested in their whole mythology, so this particular game's story has been cool for me to play through.
