Grey Warden or Mourn Watch?
My initial impression is to go for Grey Wardens cause I am aware of how they can be tied so heavily into the overall plot of the game, but what about the Mourn Watch?

Has anyone picked that one for their main? Does it get referenced a lot? Especially once you hit Nevarra?

I liked the Mourn Watch playthrough tbh. I think gameplay wise choosing one that boosts Shadow Dragon or Antvian Crows makes the most sense as an early game choice makes one of them harder to build.

I went with veil jumper for my first playthrough, but I'm intrigued by the mourn watch so will be making that my second playthrough's faction. The factions do get quite a lot of references in the dialogs. Less so explicit faction dialog choices, although there are some of those. E.g. as an veil jumper people fairly frequently bring up my experience with finding magical artifacts

Grey Warden does get a lot of mentions and unique conversation options. Especially during the later stages of the game, anything involving Davrin (one of your companions) and when the main story is based in the Anderfels. The Grey Warden conversation options have a griffin icon on them.

I am playing a Warden and there is a lot of Warden dialog options in the game when you are a Warden.

This made me want to do Grey Wardens in my next one.

While your choice of faction does indeed influence dialogue, those dialogue options don't have any impact on the outcome of those dialogues. They're merely there for flavour.

it was always weird to me that everything got set off by the blight and yet since 2, the blight is just forgotten. Grey Wardens are on of the greatest sacrifices in the story because they guaranteed shorter lives than regular soldiers. they also have a very grey area because if you are conscripted, you can't easily refuse, but if you get far enough to understand the ritual for becoming a grey warden and try to refuse it, you will be killed because it has to stay secret. high chances of dying just from the ritual itself and all you have to show for it is that you have to sacrifice yourself to keep the soul of the Blights arch demon from simply returning and starting over again. all that was thrown out for "mages vs templar" and "the fade is invading our space". the OG grey warden disappears, hawk is put in hiding from the inquisition, the inquisitor was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I myself just cant figure out which class or race to play. i have one of every class and combination started and i have lots a good in all of them. I seem more inclinded to the mage crow with the orb and dagger lighting seems op ,but i love my dwarph greywarden. Discovered that the mage lord of fortune is just a jack of all trade and no real specialazation for them. so basicly still undecided which one will be my first playthru.

I played as a Grey Warden (Champion specialisation), but as a humie. Would have loved to be a Dwarf, though. There's a GW warhammer that'd be so bada$$ for a Dwarf.

I'm playing Mourn Watch and I've really pleasantly surprised by how often unique dialogue for that background pops up throughout the game

Not completely true. F.e. as Grey warden you can send the mayor to Wardens and later he will save some ppl.

Okay. Which people? People we ever see in game?

Didn't tried both, but in my opinion if Gray Warden is the default choice, there's a reason.

There's a ton of details and even some consequences from being a Grey Warden.

Quote also that Elf is the default race, same comment for this choice than for Grey Warden above.

My first play was Elf Gray Warden, I warmly suggest it, it's a great choice.

There's plenty occurrence of saved Major becoming Grey Warden, even in final parts if I remember well, during the siege, during the town defense, and even more, including rescuing other people and after his rescue.

In replay not as Grey Warden, I saved him, I'm curious to see consequences.
