I've beaten it on nightmare with a Veil Ranger archer. In the beginning its regeneration is so high that it's almost impossible to deal damage to it but don't give up.
I'd advise on taking Davrin and Taash for this battle as they are the most aggressive when it comes to closing distance(after it starts super-balling around the arena) and dealing constant damage. Also, don't concentrate on detonations for this battle exclusively, but instead make sure your team is able to stack afflictions as much as possible to counter the regeneration. Damage dealing ones work best here as they are not dependant on the demon being hit (i.e. bleeding, burning, shock, chilled, necrosis). It's resistant to fire, but it still worked just fine for me.
it is still a long battle, but once you get it to a point where the inflicted afflictions counteract the regeneration, the health drops pretty fast.
I used an ice mage shadow dragon, and nightmare difficulty obviously. Stayed at range to dodge more easily and to keep the damage on.
I used a Warrior Reaver (necrosis+bleed) with shield throw.
