Is the caretaker Cole?
I am wondering if the caretaker is supposed to be the spirit from Inquisition who manifested themselves as Cole? Similar voice and also the hat, looks a bit like the one Cole wore...

I don't think it is because the caretaker seems to know a lot about the elven gods. That would be cool though, I keep hoping we'll see Cole and Iron Bull somewhere.
I got the impression that they're much older than that, I think that's confirmed in codex entries too
Cole was male, The Caretaker sounds more like a female voice. Also, Cole could be a human at the end of DAI, though that wouldn't be the only time DA retconnned stuff. I think the Caretaker is a spirit that has been in that place since ancient times.

I hope not. I killed that demon.
Wouldn't that just have sent him back to the Fade?

True... Almost like they were there. I miss Iron Bull too!

Oh I might have missed that.

Female? No way.. To me it has always sounded like a male voice.

Now I must listen more closely.

I don't think so. If you kill a demon in the fade it's gone forever after all, is it not?
I didn't know you could kill Cole in the Fade. AFAIK, or at least according to Solas' personal quest in DAI, killing a spirit in spirit form in the real world makes it disappear, though it may manifest in some form again in the fade at a later stage. Killing a possessed person sends the spirit back to the fade, Cole is a different case again, as he's supposed to be a spirit that manifested in physical form - I assume those are harder to kill.
I must also have missed how you could kill Cole in DA:I ? I know you could ask him to leave, and even make him leave if you made decisions he didn't agree with. But kill?

I don't remember that either. Unfortunately it's really easy to lose him unintentionally, as his personal quest is bugged.

I suspect it to be Falon'din, a part of Dirthamen spirit when it was shatterd, just like Mythal and her younger fragment? anyone else thought this?

Lighthouse is very old, isn't it? My head canon is that the caretaker is linked to whatever it was pre-Solas. "A place of learning" (codex entry calling it that) would hint at a link to Dirthamen perhaps, as Dwolffx suggests?

YES

It's also quite interesting that the Caretaker seems to know so much about fragmented spirits, enough to recognise Mythal/Morrigan. The owls around the last memory before that visit is surely not coincidence either. Does seem to point to something going on. At least enough to speculate around.)

Not gonna lie this isn't as out there as people thinking Manfred is Sandal's spirit in a Skeleton.
Nothing from Inquisition mattered except for if you ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Solas or not. So it's probably not Cole.
