i dunno isn't dragon age supposed to be a lot more dark and gritty? doesn't seem like any obvious reason why they couldn't keep that in this game, it's not mutually exclusive with the more controversial complaints people have about the game.

Not really, for it to be a success it needs to beat what else they could have done, if they only made 1% profit then it wouldn´t be a success if any other game they made has profit of 10%.
Even worse for it is that if they spend 400 million dollars on this over the past 10 years, then they could just have bought a cheap global fund instead and with an annual return of let lowball it and say 4% that would have given them 592 million dollars.

May I add: some games may also have a second or even third bulk of sales if they announce a big update or DLC, like Cyberpunk with its DLC. But here the devs already announced that this is the game and nothing would be added, so there's not even hope for a DLC that could help with the money spent to make the game.

they need to be successful for any dlc they already stated DAV wont be getting dlc which is due to the game flopping so hard

I tried to give the game a chance. I never hate games just because of other people’s reviews, I need to understand for myself what’s wrong with the game. At least if I'm interested in this series. And here EVERYTHING is wrong with her, and if I were given the opportunity to return the money after beating the game, I would do it without hesitation
