Half the people complaining about Taash and the "wokeness" in this game havent played it
Look if you want to have a conversation about gender identity in games and if this was a good or bad one, I am all for that, but half the people in these forums are basing their opinions on trailers and what some bigot on youtube said for click bait.

Honestly if hating one character makes you refund the game or whatever go for it. I hate Harding and I am not refunding the game.

Edit: I am not talking about people who do not wish to buy the game based on gameplay or art style. I am talking about people who are basically going eww trans character

Edit 2: I don't know if people can't read or choosing not to. HATE THE GAME, for what reason you want, hate Taash for how annoying they are, but please find other reason then they are trans.

Edit 3: In game you can not be mean to Taash or in fact any character really, in my whole play through I got "whoever" disproves like twice, and I agree that was a strange design choice

Edit 4: Yes there is conversation where Taash is disrespectful to Emmrich calling him a death mage, but you all fail to mention the last part of that conversation where they apologise to Emmrich. I even got a conversation between them later where they talk about dragons and spirits in the final mission

I'll say all the preference stuff isn't really my cup of tea but I can understand & tolerate it, I can even accept that there's differences & not be bothered by that at all. I mentioned Dragon Age before but another example is Star Wars The Old Republic (SWTOR) with how some of their characters are, both human & alien.

The whole trans hate thing I think is stupid. While I know some people may not agree with all that stuff, I don't think it should be a reason to start hating people or stuff. I've even got friends who are vastly different than me & are gay or whatever else, no issue for me.

What I don't get is the forced niceness, why Taash seems like they can get away with treating people horribly with little to no consequence, & I don't understand why the design choices prohibited true RPG play in regards to being evil or a blood mage, which it seems like you gotta agree with & support taash, even when they're awful to other's, & I've seen so many threads, comments, & I've heard from people that the only way to get a good ending is to be with Taash, not that I know if that is true or not.

I'm left with so many questions & concern for the next mass effect game due to all of this & not much understanding or capable of finding the answers needed to know if the game is worth playing due to everything said. The combat is interesting but not much else I can think of.

Dude I finished the game and got the best ending, with everyone alive and all the good ♥♥♥♥, you dont need to use Taash, I had her in party, because I didnt use her for any of the jobs, they ask you to put people in (think mass effect 2).

Everyone pointing out, ohh you cant be mean to Taash. You can't be an outright ♥♥♥♥ to any of them the worst thing your 'Rook' can say is vaguely angry things to NPC's who are not companions. That appears to be so the game can be marketed to younger audience, hell blood magic doesnt even seem gory any more

These are design choices that have nothing to do with the trans character.

An example of this is in the mission when Taash's mother goes missing. The main character, rightfully so, asks how they know for certain the blood is Taash's mother. Taash chooses to become unnaturally aggressive and states something that "I know what my mother's blood smells like!" Unnecessary aggressive response to an innocent and justified question. Me as the player, I had zero clue Taash had super-human smelling capabilities. Even if I did know they had that, there is no indication they could learn smells of different people's blood at all. I cannot remember at any point in this game where they set-up Taash as having super sniffer sensory abilities.
It came up before then in other conversations, along with their reduced sense of taste, as being connected with their ability to breathe fire. Their strong sense of smell is referenced commonly.

Good to know on not needing Taash for the good ending, though I didn't just mean Taash regarding the forced niceness part (I should probably be sleeping till I'm functional enough to type properly haha...ehhh), I still find it mind boggling Taash can be horrid to others without much consequence & you can't do much about it.

I also don't understand why they call the game an RPG when you can't be mean to everyone just for kicks/gags/laughs, shakedown people for money (like you can in some older RPG's), or be sarcastic that it's like having a word duel with someone & you've made the best sarcastic retort that effectively & ultimately roasts someone. The no blood magic bit doesn't make sense either, especially as there's a necromancer in the game.

The combat from the looks of it makes me miss playing Jade Empire, given that it's different from DAO but the story & character stuff worries me. Andromeda I've been slogging through despite the issues with the game as I wanna see more of the combat in it, even if the story so far has been hard to grasp my intrigue.

None of my thoughts, questions, or concerns care about Taash's identity preference, just the bewildering nature of the character & just the game with the other characters story wise, especially since I like stories & the combat gameplay isn't as important to me.

I have a large problem with Taash, but it really has nothing to do with them being non-binary at all. It is the hostile attribution bias they display through poor writing. From the moment you encounter Taash, they snap at the main character over benign/innocent statements and questions, which comes up a few times throughout their story and conversations with them.

It only came up for this mission and that is it. Not any point later, which I recall, did they use it or even bring it up. As the player who is the main character, it was very uncalled for. I had no knowledge of this and I assume my character did not either. Otherwise, asking how they know it is Taash's mother's blood would not have even been a dialogue option.

Outside of Taash's irrational and hostile outbursts, I rather enjoyed that character. I found some of Taash's comments when the team is discussing certain things hilarious and welcomed. Sure, Taash has a lot of struggles they were going through and justifiably should be upset and conflicted about many things. However, they committed to heuristics and saw behavior in more places than it realistically was and choose to snap at others who were trying to be nothing but helpful and understanding. Yes, there are people in life who do that outside of games, but this game is about the people you meet and their personal growth. Taash did not grow from their irrational outbursts and was never called out for them.

But you know, they wouldn't be so scared of writing a good character if they didn't make her non-binary. The moment they made her non-binary they had to write her like she's a child that can't do no wrong, and if you question it you're an intolerant bigot. They wouldn't want bigotry in a game marketed for LGBTQ

The idea of disagreeing with a "protected class" like this could offend a lot of people. It is SO obvious she was written like she was for this reason. The inclusion of Taash ironically destroyed so much by forcing them to play it the safest way possible.

Of course most people complaining haven't played. I've played for 26 hrs so far. I have not encountered what I'd consider a sign of "wokeness" I know the big scene everyone refers to, which I have not come to yet, but so far, it's been fun.

It's the post-companionsuperpower scene with Taash. Like, you can entirely skip it. It's so easy to avoid. You have to go out of your way to hit it.

Yes, thank god live gameplay and videos exist so people don't need to waste their money playing a game that they would not have enjoyed.
Punished Jeremy 2024 年 11 月 9 日 下午 7:44
This is such an obvious deflection tactic. An attempt to discredit the criticism the game is getting. It would be one thing if the criticism was framing the situation out of context or based on gameplay systems that you need to feel out to truly know. Thats not whats going on here. These things people are complaining about are integral to the overall tone of the games writing. Its the premise itself, and people can tell just from watching videos that its not for them. So why would they pay 60 for it? The game has already failed them

No ♥♥♥♥ Sherlock. Peopel who don't like Traash don't own the game.

And no , it's not about her specifically. Simply being "non-binary" is acceptable.
It's about all cringy "misgendering" dialogues , " mommy I am non-binary" tropes in a freaking fantasy game and codex entries full of propaganda.

I like Poison (Street Fighter) and Bridget (Guilty Gear).

I dunno if I'd Traash or not but it wouldn't be about gender identity.

I don't like Poison's political ideology either but that doesn't make me hate her.

What the ♥♥♥♥. Street Fighter has "political ideology"? xD

Street Fighter X Tekken story has Poison telling Hehetche (Tekken character, dunno spelling) to go find a hole and die. She's portrayed as greedy and IMSHO libertarian. Still she's a fun character to play in Street Fighter V.

That's fair. I realized I don't know ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about Street Fighter stories and deleted my comment 'cause of that.

I haven't played it. I've seen what I need to see.

I also wasn't aware that we were trying to hide that fact, Sherlock.

You are a f**k wit, the gender plays no role in the personality, ♥♥♥♥ Bellara acts like a child on speed, they are a girl.

You can criticise a character and the personality with out bring their gender into it, when I ♥♥♥♥ talk Harding the fact they are girl never comes up.

Davrin is to me just as whiny as Taash, but no one brings that up. Because you don't like a game you wanted to like, you blame the tran character, because you dont like trans people instead of talking about writing itself

Gonna cry? Do facts hurt your feelings?
