I don't get it... what EXACTLY is bad about the writing of this game...?
...aside from this wokensess... BS-complains. (yes, I DID NOT say wokeness-bs but bs-complains about that!)

I find thi writing of this game as good as all other DA-games, including origins. Did I miss something?

Just a lot of review bombing and complaining using the game as a pretext. It's pretty fun. [also, in later parts, down right ... dark, in some ways. The body horror of the blight being what it is...]

Nothing.

Nothing is wrong with the writing. The only reason I noticed a couple things was because I specifically looking out for it, If I wasn't, I don't think any idea of 'bad writing' would have entered my mind. I'm not saying its shakespear. But you know, people just need some talking point to cling to, and for whatever reason, that has become it with this game.

Don't worry about it.

The story is good to me but the the dialogue is inconsistent. Primarily, Bellara and Harding are the problems. They are written too childishly, and it doesn't match the tone of past DA games. Taash is just jarring in this setting and given the circumstances. That is an example of poor narrative design.

A lot of the interactions are at a YA level of writing.
i came from dao i think they could have done better, if they could have pulled off a scene like so:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ns10hzKYgYo

i would be bawling my eyes out for the lgbtq++++ but the no, it's just not gud. ive provided a excellent example of good writing and voice acting but did not offer bad examples in dav cuz theres too many to recount.

edit: if ur strapped for time just drag it to 4min mark, thats where the tension starts but i urge u to play it from start to end as it is a slow burn into a peak tension and finally an ebiccccccccccccccccccccc release

He is not even addressing the woke part but the gameplay itself.

WARNING toward the end he is spoiling!

Also warning he speaks open and direct with strong language.

Veilguard is VERY good.

I can give you some strong language too if that helps you make up your mind :P

Look I don't care. Listen to it or not.

For the lazzy ones:
TLDR: Game is on rail. You can't choose anything it is all preset. All your answers are the same.

Think of it what you want. OP wondered what exactly is bad about the writing and I think this review tells you exactly that.

The story writing inst that bad for an story driven action game. And that's the problem DA games have notoriously been RPG's which allow you to choose your adventure and experience but The Veilguard feels a lot more like a single driven narrative that no matter what options you choose the story stays the same (apart from the last missions, which do return to elements of your chooses have impacts). So i think for a lot of people who were looking for their next big RPG after spending hundreds of hours on BG3 (myself included) The Veilguard just comes off as a light hearted story driven game, which has caught people off guard and then they try to compare the 2 games which just seems unfair.

Well, if you compare DAV and DAO dialogues and plot, you'll find out why the writing in this game is so shallow.
Liitschi Nov 8, 2024 @ 1:48am
In my opinion, it´s very childish and not well-researched. If they are explaining how things work it´s just not adding up or isn´t accurate with the lore of DA. Eventhouth I´m still fine with the game. Could be better, could be worse.

It's good. I like it too.

Some people don't like it for various reasons, like any other game. Business as usual with a dash of culture war spice.

However, for what feels like an eternity they've been treating the forums as the place to be all in their feelings about not liking it, and not playing it, and how much they want to believe it's failing and feeling that it's very important to drown out the people that do like it.

It's a little obsessive but I guess they don't have any games they want to play right now.

They speak like a stereotype from Seattle and everyone in this game suffers from dialogue ventriloquism.
even if u compare dav to just dao, i dont think any dav character introduction tops flameth and morrigan's introduction in dao at all

No thank you I can form my own opinions. I don't need some random Youtube hate farmer to do all my thinking for me.

'Failguard' in the video title - I don't even need to watch the damned thing to know how it's going to go.... "blah blah blah woke, blah blah blah DEI, blah blah blah Sweetbaby, blah blah blah terrible writing, blah blah blah Taash, blah blah blah, Fortnight graphics, blah blah blah top scars, blah blah blah pronouns, blah blah blah Dustborn, blah blah blah Concorde...."

Heard it all before.

The man played 20 hours. He did not mention any of what you think he did. Using puns isn't anti-woke either but that would be too much thinking for you.

I also don't know this content creator.
