Modding DA The Veilguard
I was curious if any mod authors out there, especially those that did a lot of modding for DAI, were going to do any modding for this game. I have been checking the Nexus but there are mostly character presets. I don't know enough about the file system for this game to know if the Frosty Mod Manager is compatible with this game. Just wanted ask and see if anyone has any plans to do so. Thanks

i think its to early, since games tend to get alot of updates and bugfixing in the first weeks. What means they had to update the mods everytime too, but not shure maybe someone working on some at the moment

nah, nexus mods owners are ready to delete every meaningful mod cause you can't hurt people feelings, I'm pretty sure the modders won't even waste their time

I know a bit about it, not a ton.
In DAI mod authors could replace textures to eg improve skin complexion, but it wasn't really possible to replace meshes eg the facial structure. The engine doesn't make modding easy.

I will not say why to not incite another agrument, but I do not think there will be many mods for DAV. Just to temper your expectations.

That's why you just go to another Mod place, like BasedMods.

Eh, as long as it is compatible with the Frosty Mod Manager, it should be easy to make mods, assuming it doesn't do anything weird with the data structures, etc...

Frostbite is infamously hard to mod. The engine isn't optimized for that.

Oh don't get me wrong, not trying to discourage you or any potential modders, I'm just saying, this will not have a lively modding scene, both because creating anything is akin to sprinting through a minefield and because the popularity is just not where it was expected and the engine is kinda meh to mod. It's mostly the former.

The Frosty Mod Manager didn't work for me with DAI. I tried it on three different computers, following instructions closely, and using the Frosty fix. It only worked for me once.

The funny thing is I found modding DAI to be way more of a pain in the ass than DAO. I stuck to the DAI mod manager. It always worked, was easy to understand, and gave me no issues on 5 different modded playthroughs. If it's Frosty Mod Manager this time around then I don't think this game is going to have a strong modding community.

Frostbite games are usually modded using the Frosty Editor suite, but newer Frostbite titles aren't compatible with the current releases.

Last I checked, at least one of the developers of the tools is working on a Frosty v2, with the goal being making a more effective tool for the newer games, since the old tool is notoriously spaghetti under the hood.

If you google after it, you can pretty easily find Frosty Mod Manager web page and link to the official discord. There's some talk in there about the updates, even a few people asking after Veilguard specifically, but I reckon it's a long way off for now.

There are some github links floating around for early attempts at Veilguard compatibility, but most of this is confusing command-line stuff that you probably need a foot in the door to be able to use properly

Thanks for the info everyone. I think, the thing I was mostly hoping for were things like unlimited materials for leveling up gear. The only texture mods I could think of would actually be outfits, etc. Regardless of the popularity of the game (and never ending debate) I knew it might take awhile after release. I actually like the character creator and a lot of the options that launched with game. That was a big focus in DAI. A lot of modding effort went into upgrading character creation. I was always grateful for the modding community's contribution. It made the game that much more enjoyable for a end user like me. I do know there's already an update/patch coming soon to address some tech issues. Anyway, thanks again for the feedback.

I feel like the Popularity is exactly where it should have been expected, given what they did to the game. And Im not talking about the Woke stuff, I really dont care about that. Its the whole "lets remove every CORE SYSTEM that made the Dragon Age games stand out from all the other RPG games, and make this a Generic RPG 101 like all the others."

Given that, the game actually became more popular than I expected.

apparently you shouldnt be able to apply mods to a single player game.

Origins and DAII are a joke to mod compared to DAI because frosty mod manager is a ♥♥♥♥♥ to use. Not only are the former games manual mod friendly they also work amazing with NMM.
