Why are most mods for this game character presets?
Ive been checking Nexus every day. I wonder why most of the mods for this games are character pre-sets followed by reshades. I dont like most of the staff weapon designs or the head gear and i was hoping someone would make replacements. Also i wanted to make my male elf taller than the slider allows. :D

I think the mods needed for this game would get banned anyway so why bother.

Because frostbite is almost impossible to mod. Only allowing asset edits, or texture edits. Adding new things like story content or brand new armors, sliders etc was not possible in dai either, also on frostbite.

The game engine (if it is the same one as DAI was built in) is not that easy to mod - eg you can swap texture files but models and meshes are much harder if not impossible.

Because the people who buy and play this game are like.... the people who aren't skilled modders who will make real great mods like real gamers who play and mod Skyrim etc.

This, always fun scripting things for example ( when it should be { is fun to look over 20 times and your eyes just skim by accident.

Its why I don't consider reshades/enb not mods.

Also people seem to think because xyz has mods every game is easily modable. It isn't.

Until most games release tools to mod its just not likely the community will make their own and without em it'll be the very basic things.

Yeah nexus is somewhat liberal on their mods when it comes to all kinds of mods, but they don't allow sometimes removal of gender identity as in the case of Star Field. But they allow color swaps and gender swap of characters like in Skyrim or Fallout. You can't have mods that remove gay flags or whatever (sometimes). Hard to tell sometimes with Nexus.

Typical. "Inclusive" as long as it fits our definition and framework. Such hypocrites.

Why are you looking for good mods on Nexus? They censor all the good stuff.
There are other modding sites that don't ban the good mods.

gamebanana or curseforge i think those are the two biggest alternatives but some games have their own dedicated sites

They allow race swaps from white to anything, but never anything to white. And always from male to anything, but never from anything to male. Easy to understand. Nexus is completely overtaken by you-know-who.

Skyrim and Fallout mods were released back when they werent under you-know-who's control.

Not so.

BG3 for example has several mods swapping female characters to male, with masculine voices to match.
