Carastes double hat for mage

The last unlock says, 30% ability damage if all share the same ability type. What on earth does that mean?

i thinks is the damage type of the abilitys, for example if you put 3 ice in your hotbar
atleast it sounds like that, dosent used that hat, i prefer the red one that shoots a nekro bolt after an kill

hm right that too, but that would cost alot of skillpoints to got 3 detonator or 3 control
