Why are people calling this game "woke"

I mean the dragon age series are famously inclusive, like if you don't like that there is a option to romance someone of the same gender as your character just don't. I promise you, mo one will force anyone to be gay, and if they are you have the agency to not romance them or make your hawke/HOF/Inky straight in dragon age keep. You don't have to play the games to make a keep so if the idea of any of them being gay upsets you you can make a da keep account and make them romance who ever you want. so please stop making a big deal about "wokeness". these games are political but there being poc/ gay people aren't part of that (there is homophobia, though it is portrayed negatively for the most part). Mind you, including the option to romance same gender is very minor levels of woke. Modern woke is much broader: uglyfying females, making male characters weak and feminine, strong female character who can’t fail, white male patriarchy is always the villain, western civilization is evil, gender is fluid and doesn’t exist, ancestors are bad and stupid, anti-violence sentiment, etc.

The option to same romance (like was made in older games) doesn’t bother anyone.

Games aren't real. People have expectations in games. It is an escape. People want good looking characters. People don't want politics and agenda shoved down their throats while escaping from the real world playing the game. If they offered a regular fun game and inside of that had options in the game to woke-ify their gaming experience, nobody would care. The issue is it's the forced nature of these agendas to players who do not want it. These game industries were attempting to cash in on a trend and they failed miserably. Most gamers don't care about gay or black people being in the game, its how they've painfully forced it into the game and stroy that pisses people off. On top of that, focusing on woke took focus away from making the game great. The recent downfall of several woke games were not only the result of DEI, woke agenda being forced upon us, the games were objectively bad. Seems the new trend is whatever Sweet Baby Inc. touches, it dies.

Being inclusive and being woke aren't the same thing. The more you keep on confusing the two the less meaning those words will have.

Having women and POC isn't woke. Having pronouns and top surgery scars is.

Nobody complained about Tomb Raider being a woman, you know why? Because the games would be good even if she wasn't. Nobody complained about Space Marine 2 having a diverse cast, you know why? Because even if it wasn't diverse - ppl would still play the game.

If the game is good - ppl could care less about any of this surface level stuff. People only bring it up when the game is bad.

I just watched a clip with Isabela from DA2 doing press-ups because she misgendered someone. Huh...where was that in Dragon Age 1, 2 and 3... it's almost as if they are trying to inject real-world politics and ideology into a fantasy game with dark spawn and dragons.

wake up, they are targeting existing franchises deliberately, instead of creating their own.

It’s about breaking down the traditional norms for things we enjoyed in the past, like beautiful curvy bodies that are impossible to replicate in the real world, like leading characters who are male and masculine.
All because these foolish people are 'taught' that everything that’s led up to this point in the past, has been created by privileged 'white people' - at the expense of “people of color”.

It was never about that, it was simply just about good story telling, there was no effort to push agendas, and thats why games were good back then. we could let a thing, be a thing, without tampering with it and ruining it.

Because even though Origins was pretty progressive, you still, for example, had an angry woman call her elvish serfs a bunch of slurs and then threaten to skin them alive if they misbehaved, while you, the player, could in turn threaten her that you'll "put her down" for calling your pet mabari a "mongrel" or if you're feeling a little more generous you could've instead told her to shut the hell up instead.
Or you could've thrown a one-liner at a merchant you just met and immediately kill him as a part of the "joke".

All of those things are completely absent here and most of the time you can't be even remotely "rude".
