Have you played any of the previous games : DAO, DA2, DAI ?
Because i have over 300 hours in those games and you sound like someone who has never touched a DA game before, you sound like someone who just got on the hate train because it's "cool".
I am simply trying to help out the older player base about what this game will probably be like so perhaps they will not be as pissed off about it and maybe actually give it a chance.
Good to know that you also have no idea what PR actually sounds like.
LMAO - nice one
What i mean by that is they tried to make it more modern.
The older DA games didn't really have a dodging mechanic.
They didn't really have anything else they could do in my opinion.
If they had made it like DAO or DAI - people would probably be like "oh it's more of the same thing from DAI a game from 10 years ago, it's outdated, what have they been doing for 10 years ?"
At least they are trying something new and to be fair the gameplay really leans into DA2 and ME1 with the UI elements and how you control companions skills, take a look at the gameplay again.
Also the fact they showed a LEVEL 1 Rook isn't exactly the best example with party at that level too.
I am not really sure about the boss fight but i think there is some type of counter mechanic or parry system - on some of the Pride Demon's attacks Rook clearly has a yellow glow appearing above him which could indicate maybe a counter or parry - perhaps something similar to HOGWARTS style ?
Hello old Bioware and Dragon Age Fan here, i have not a big Problem with the Gameplay i am always for more action oriented Gameplay.
But the art directon that makes everything look like a cartoon caricature of former Dragon Age imy biggest problem. And then there are the companions who look like my Neighbours and not like a cool bunch of Bad A** Fantasy Heroe's like Aveline, Cassandra and yes even Dorian. Not to talk about the uglyfied female faces.
Only thing left for me so far is the hope that the Story can make up for the rest, but honestly i doubt that it can.
Yes-yes-yes, different people different opinons.
I mean i can still enjoy their Storys and world's right? I played the Heck out of Jade Empire by the way, one of my all time favourites! But i still love the goldies too.
Hopefully you will enjoy dialogues with your best cartoon friend Emmrich while looking deeply into his googly cartoon eyes.. it will add to the atmosphere for sure.
Some people never got over DA2, saying goodbye to Ferelden and the Blight, and telling a smaller scale story in one city in a different part of Thedas. They wanted another epic DA:O dark fantasy epic and BioWare never gave it to them.
But most fans rolled with it. Inquisition outsold Origins, folks. BioWare moved on, and a lot of us embraced those changes and enjoyed the franchise in each installment.
I have concerns about Veilguard -- I'd be a fool not to given the tumult of the project, studio, etc. And what I saw is, well, different.
But I also know how many playthroughs of DA:O, DA2 and DA:I I've had. Hell, this release blitz, hearing Solas trying to reason with his old friend Varric in the trailer, etc. has me fired up and pondering another DA:I run right now.
Best to just buckle up and embrace it when it arrives this fall, IMHO.

At around 12 minutes in that gameplay video this is like a yellow glow kinda like an aura appearing above Rook's head at moments where the Pride Demon attacks - it seems like it's some sort of counter or parry system although i'm not 100% sure.
I'm not trying to do anything specific - i am just trying to reassure the older fans that this game might NOT be as BAD as everyone thinks it will be.
Yes they took it in a whole different direction BUT they have tried this before with DA2 and what we saw was a LEVEL 1 Rook with a party at that same level.
The abilities work like in MASS EFFECT where the player just pops up the abilities window for his companions and selects what he likes.
I think not having a control of party members is what got a lot of people upset about it - they kinda tried making it like MASS EFFECT and now people aren't sure what to expect, but i do not think this will be a bad system, i think anyone who has ever played a ME game will feel very familiar with DAV
They were in a legendary city powered by f------ magic, you hack.
Did you expect capital of the Imperium to look like some dusty medieval backwater?
If you don't like the color palette, the saturation, etc. just wait for a mod rescale and turn down the color. Such a dumb angle of attack for this game.

Hm isn't any Fan of anything self proclaimed? I mean did Bioware or anything else you are a fan of did come to you and tells you that you are now a Fan of them?
Everyone Loves something for different reasons right? But hey if you think ia have no right to like what i like because i have a different view on things. That is totally okay and it does not bother me at all.
