Not a fan myself of that specific change but we'll have to see what it looks like exactly. Unless it was already leaked or something.
I mean, those things can be easily edited via DA Keep but it seems like they're not planning on using it going forward, which might effect ME4 as well via ME Archives.
All in all, I guess it's because they want to bring in a newer audience and not everyone will be willing to play the older games due to a variety of reasons. Inqusition was the same way from what I remember, using DA Keep rather than save files.
It's an odd decision regardless, aye.
If this were 2017, I'd agree with you.
But now, DA:I is 10+ years old -- that's multiple console platform cycles ago -- and the devs stated they wanted to do everything in-engine instead of the DA Keep.
I kind of get that call.
Also: this game appears to be smaller scale and we won't be Thedas-hopping back to many old haunts like Ferelden, Orlais, etc. So if we're largely going to new places with a new crew, the Mass Effect 'let's follow that dude at the starport who idolizes me' will probably not come up that often.
