In the gameplay trailer we see rook...is he just an option to select as a character.

Im not being forced to play as a black guy.

No if you take a minute to look around net you would see you can make your own character, you can be Human, Elf, Dwarf or Qunari, male or female any color you want, with option to pick background and to what faction you have connection.

Rook was just character they pick/made for gameplay video.

There is a huge character creator according to the IGN article and what the developers said. there will be sliders for everything and many many choices to create a character you want to play . It will be the best creator they have ever had in a dragon age game from what I read which is very exciting because even all the hairs will have hair physics too. In inquisition the creator was not near as good as this one has been described. This one is very comprehensive and will offer more even than Bg3 did since this creator will have sliders for pretty much everything you can think of. The IGN article online goes over the creator a lot so have a look at it.

The game will have character creation. Only dont expect much to not feel disapointed in case the options come driven to create just Woke+LGBT culture features and you do not find characteristics to edit your char accord to your culture. Corine Busche already told that this game is for LGBT community and we have two options, play and accept what it have to offer in this culture or try a game that we like most.

I'm more worried about companions. Will I have any pretty goth girls or Religious ladies that will have long hair ? Also I need Duncan like charcter to be my bro and then I'm set.

They practically already revealed all the companions. You will be getting neither of those.

The dudes are ok and their backgrounds seem cool so it's not that bad but Ladies on the other hand... are not making me very exicted to play the game anymore. I wish they had taken a different design approach.

There is not much of a choice for women either. A black guy, an old guy, and some Muhammad. Bruh. The situation with male companions just as bad as with females.

I'm desperate, I'm not going to lie. If I was going to play the game, I think it would be a solo run but I don't think I will. There more u find out about the game the less I want it.

Fairly certain Rook is called like that because it's a play on pawns, as in, chess pieces.
Also fairly certain video games will not stop having characters named after chess pieces anytime soon.

Same. I'm waiting for another gameplay reveal where they show at least some hints of darkness in the world/meaningful choice/impactful story. Right now it looks boring, secondary, and sterile.

I personally am a woman and I will romance Lucanis. I do not care what his nationality is or any of that. I care that he looks cool and looks like an interesting character. You know people actually do have information about Lucanis if they read the Tevinter nights books.

I am not interested in the other companions in the game other than them being friends. Just like in Inquisition my go to character was usually Solas.

So I have a vested interest in them continuing Solas story since my inquisitor romanced him. I want to see what they do since the inquisitor is confirmed to show up in the game.
So no, not every female is going for the old guy companion.

I wasn’t happy with the name because it didn’t make sense to me at the start so while trying to pick out a first name, a generator spat out the name “Marook” for a Qunari name and in my brain they shortened Marook to Rook lol
