Dreadwolf actually sounded good... Thoughts?
Dragon Age: Origins is great dark fantasy for me. DA2 disappointed me, and took away most of the RPG elements of Origins. DA: I was pretty unengaging for me, and I quit a few times and never returned. Basically, I've been done with Dragon Age for years, and Dreadwolf was hopefully going to be a return to form.

Dreadwolf had piqued my interest. I had thoughts of returning to this old game series that went downhill. Only for them to change the name to something that I honestly think sounds truly awful. They gave us some colourful, edgy, comedic Borderlands/Saints Row mish mash. Seeing Dragon Veil be the new name really killed it for me. The tone is completely off to what a dark fantasy should be. Why do they keep doing this to Dragon Age and Mass Effect fans? Oh yeah... $.

Between that and the questionable Mass Effect trilogy ending/Andromeda, I really don't think Bioware makes games for it's older fan base, that actually like and played the OG games. They just make random stuff to appeal to as many (current gens) people as possible for all the sales... And we get messes like this, in my opinion. They don't care about old fans, they want to completely erase the feel of Dragon Age/Mass Effect to get new players, discarding the old fans. I'm sorely disappointed, and don't know why I thought I'd be getting anything even close to the magic that was Dragon Age: Origins.

Atleast it'll be bittersweet YouTube entertainment to watch a "What was Bioware thinking" video in a decade... Right?

What do you guys think? Everyone can have an opinion, and there's no need for abuse, so just share your opinions without all the extra high school drama please. :lunar2019piginablanket:

Dreadwolf was a placeholder name and Veilguard, while now official, sounds placeholder-y as well. Then again, none of the DA games had great subtitles as well but rather very generic.

It didn't sound good. Basically the only great game from series was the first one (Origins+Awakening and DLCs). 2nd was horrible. 3rd was boring. Series was already in the grave.
Exactly. This game series doesn't feel like it's for us DA: Origins fans... in the same way that they took away player freedom for DA2.
There's something about Inquisition that I personally just hated. Even that was this colourful, blase, plain game. Not the dark fantasy that I signed up for with Origins. They had a great formula, and they keep trying to back flip it, imo each one being worse than the last. Seems to be attempts to appeal to the highest amount of random players/pull new players in too.

Dreadwolf sounds pretty dark, atleast. The word dread is foreboding of dark things coming... like the Dark Spawn.

Dragon Veil sounds like sunshine and rainbows. My heart sank as soon as I saw that name change. Then I watched that trailer, and saw they've turned it into an energetic, overly colourful comedy skit. I want Dragon Age for the dark adventures. The loss, sadness, despair, and eventual overcoming colossal odds to win a victory painted by the loss of many souls/lands.

Instead, it's got that art style that personally, I can't stand. The colourful, pudgy, animated, humour tone of Borderlands. It's got that humour/tone of other games too, of games like Dishonoured, and Deathloop. It's just the wrong tone for what DA is supposed to be. They've been dunking on my boy DA since Origins came out.

I am saying all this as that's how I feel. I don't like that gameplay tone at all. Others may feel different, but I am absolutely disappointed.

I know what's happened here. Some suit got paranoid about having the word "dread" in the title.
