The "go woke go broke" people were seething during BG3's massive success. It's a shame that game feels more like the original Dragon Age than this.
Setting the standard and then going out like this is just tragic.
Devs can do inclusion without going woke.
I'm sure there are people who use that word to point out how corny things are like this trailer, but it's undeniable at this point that certain groups that are discriminatory call anything "woke" simply because it is inclusive.
The other issue is "woke" as it was originally intended was a term to refer to an alertness to social inequalities related to marginalized groups. Using it to apply to the DA franchise just feels awkward, especially with all its baggage. DAO was inclusive all the way back in 2009. I saw someone complaining that the devs are making a gay protagonist, and it's clear that many people are coming here have not played the previous games.
I do think it's more accurate to describe it as the Marvel "he's right behind me isn't he" Millennial writing. It's very juvenile and meant to appeal to the widest group of people.
Also we know that DA4 was meant to be multiplayer only, which I guess meant an overwatch style hero shooter. Might pick it up in a deep sale just to know how the butchered the story.
PS: BG3 isn't woke. Woke games don't have beautiful women in them. Real life models are digitally altered to look like men in woke games.
New characters are welcome because it's more interesting than constant rehashing of the past.
However, I'm more worried about the art direction, which just looks like Riot or Epic or Blizzard. Whimsical stylized art is not really the vibe I want from Dragon Age, which tends to want sharp edges and high resolution with a choice-and-consequence filled story.
IMO the woke term is getting used so often as we all are getting force fed woke garbage everywhere. And as such we see natural diversity in games, wich were never a problem before all the woke ♥♥♥♥ force fed, as woke.
Hey, why not make the game a battle royale?
And put in a shop with microtransaction for Star Wars skins and Spiderman back bling.
DRAGON AGE NEEDS MORE BACK BLING!
I want my SpiderPERSON to look really cool.
^^^ Fixed it for you
BioWare moved on, and so did gamers. Inquisition outsold Origins!
Did you think BioWare revert back to a grim, tactical, slower paced affair when leaving that behind with DA:I paid off for them?
