How well has this game done?
I'm finishing up my playthrough and I really like this game. I absolutely LOVED the original Brigandine, and while this one isn't *quiiite* as good it comes reasonable close IMO, so I really want to see more of it and I hope the devs have gotten a good return on their effort ;_; But for a niche game like this that's probably too much to ask...

i rarely finish the games i buy, but i finished this one at least. i have to say i really loved the artwork for the units, reminded me of labyrinth of yomi and stranger of sword city. anyways i might go for a second ending of the game when i have time,

Yeah, the art was really good. I especially liked how much of it there was, thats definitely one thing the original Brigandine was lacking (though IIRC the Saturn version did have anime cutscenes and stuff).

I'd say it sold pretty well, it had a slightly smaller peak in activity than SMT III: Nocturne HD which was a very awaited re-release from a way more popular franchise. The fact that they could just port B:LoR to PC with minimal changes to double up on revenue is probably quite good for the team.

Nice, that's definitely some good news!

As a huge fan of the original Brigandine and GE, this game came so close to being the best one, but for some inexplicable reason, Happinet decided to go light on the story. Compared to GE, there's hardly any text, dialogue or interactions from the supporting cast in this game, when this is one of the easiest parts of the game to flesh out. That side story between Iyona and Levi Ackerm...umm..Noll that plays out in two pre-battle dialogues? Forsena/GE had plenty more of that.

Would be great if the developers released another DLC to add character-specific ending pages/text entries. Won't even need to rehire voice actors.

You really think so? From my perspective there's a ton. I'm only just finishing up the Norzaleo campaign and I've already seen cutscenes/flashbacks about my lord's relationship with his girlfriend, my Paladin general guy having a thing about sneezing around beautiful women, and a lot of interesting backstory on the history/culture of the country itself, like the Barrett lifecycle, its founders, etc. But yeah, if there aren't any character specific endings like in Fire Emblem then that would be a bit of a disappointment. If we're talking DLC I would also really like the devs to add some of the classes from the old game, like samurai/shogun, ninja/ninja master (why was that not a class for the forest shinobi?), and the evil angel you could get with a special item (the Lucifer IIRC).

I think he means the interactions for other characters in the army (bad usage of "story" in his part), for example the ones you mention are only 5 (adding Jiu to your 4) out of 15!! faction specific characters, most of which don't appear in a single cutscene, except maybe one of the early story recruitments, leaving you with about 8/15 characters having absolutely no story presence and no events, being generous with what counts as story presence for those recruitment characters.
This issue extends to the neutral characters, who have 0 cutscenes other than their recruitment except for the Tomas/Dryzenis and Will/Ferrick pairs. Also I think there's only 1 (or maybe 2) characters who have non-story events that give them bonuses, one of them is Malek who is just a very boring character... I wish this were the case with more of the supporting cast.

Ohh yeah, I see what you mean. Yeah if the side characters don't get much development thats a little disappointing.

It's not too challenging really, even on Hard.

Hard AI is just griefy in that they will use all their units to attack before they retreat haha.

I would love to see some mods!

I really like Stella story (Stella bias,) and spoiler alert: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sB4JaHVNqo

that part actually had an emotional effect on me.

It's weak. Recruitment AI is particularly terrible (you'll notice they replenish their army in a nonsensical way late game, like recruiting support units only, etc). The issue is that they can't keep their units alive unlike the player, basically the game system where you can keep getting stronger simply favors the player. The hardest part of the game is the beginning, and it just get easier... doesn't make for a pleasant experience once you are good with the game.

It's definitely worth playing through at least once though. And perhaps challenge mode.

Overall the game is way too easy for srpg veterans.

yea you can try stuff like giving them 100% quest or 1 revival stone per season, extra exp, obviously wouldn't try all at once. But I think the exp and the revival stone turns out pretty well. The quest is somehow massive OP.
