I don't get what is the point of this game?
Is this a sandbox type game? Is it like a gacha system? can I unlock tons of content in game without whipping out my wallet? Many of the neat looking characters seem to be behind paywalls? Do the characters have their own unique moves and weapons? from what Ive seen everyone plays pretty much the same? This isn't like a skylanders situation where each character has their own unique kit right? I'm seriously on the fence about this because after seeing a game like astrobot I want something similar and Funko Fusion sorta seems like that? I noticed the game doesn't have very many reviews on steam so I'm wondering about the longevity of the game as well. I know I can probably youtube most of this info but I am trying to avoid spoilers if possible, I just wanted the gist of how the game is and plays.

This game is very much aimed towards the collectors of Funko Pops and is really about collecting all the available characters and skins for the characters. It has somewhat of a story and 7 themed worlds consisting of 5 levels + a so called "cameo" level (level with a different theme that's unlocked within one of the other levels) to play through. The characters play quite similar (they all have one melee weapon and one gun) with little differences, like some can break stuff others can't or some can teleport a little allowing them to reach places others can't. So you'll be using multiple of them if you wish to 100% this game. There are indeed several payed DLC with additional characters, but also several free DLC and also quite a few characters obtainable ingame. As for the longevity, at this moment it doesn't seem like we're getting a full new world anytime soon, so to be honest I don't know about the longevity of this game.

Thats what I was worried about, so basically this is a glorified DLC grab-bag, they make their money on DLC and thats what will heavily influence the game going forward, DLC will always be the priority instead of in game content...so this is nothing like how astro bot works and you cannot earn funko's via in game currency/content aside from characters already obtainable in game. Thanks for clearing that up you saved me from making a mistake buying this.

Basically this is Lego Dimensions, only without the need to buy actual lego figures and put them together. (I believe with Marty McFly and Wicked Witch/Elphaba around we even have some reunions from Lego Dimensions)

Currently none of the DLC is required to beat the game (Though ironically enough the free DLC characters Frankenstein, Engineer, and Yueltide versions of the Funko Mascots make it a lot damn easier)

and the only DLC that actually adds new stages is The Office, which also comes with four characters each with their alternate costumes (Not a bad deal for 10 dollars)

It's very likely we're getting more worlds. If you have all the worlds unlocks and then go to the bottom floor... There's a sign that says "Under Construction" and behind the sign there's a staircase that's blocked off, so new worlds are probably going to happen.

Please please PLEASE have a Sonic World 10:10 Games

I also saw the sign and and I do hope we will get some new worlds sometime in the future. On the other hand we have no word from the devs that they are even considering new worlds at this time, which is why I wrote I don't think we will be getting any new world anytime soon. But who knows maybe they'll surprise us.

It seems like the devs are concentrated on just selling the game in its current state instead of trying to hype up what's to come. Plus they're on Winter Break, and they were kind enough to leave us with Protoman and Dr. Wily as a sort of "More to come" wink. (As The Office was supposed to be the "last 2024" content update)
