This game can be considered a spiritual successor to Battle Academy. Gameplay is very much like Battle Academy series. The only thing it has in common with Advanced Wars/Xcom is that it is Turn-based and units move on grid squares.

Game mechanics are similar to Field of Glory series where hits and damage are probability based and have many factors that affect the final probabilities.

If you enjoy turn-based tactical games, you would probably enjoy this game.

It has a few other X-Com like features as well, cover, los, ambush, squad management (experience, upgrades, heroes), to name a few.
