I am getting my ass kicked in mission 7 Naraka gate on hard
Any advice, I have full ship limit a lot of resources to spare but just can't shoot all capital ships that coming out in the end.

I changed difficulty at this mission after many tries. I'll try again now that I've a bit more experience but my guess was to mine the whole battlefield and not only the first two defense position.

Placing mines feels like a pain you need to control every ship individually and they can't just mine at current position and always try to fly up...

Using the mine frigates helped me. Place the box fields near the gate opening. Do serveral or as many as you can before they come through. I placed my turrets on the left, top and right hand side of the gate. Have a force of bombers built from the Khar-Kushan for when they scud past you at the gate. Once you've mopped them up there, send them all to the mothership.

Ion cannon frigates seemed to do the job for those irritating run away capital ships that manage to slide past you at the end.

To make it easier to manage mine, I do this: I put my transporter in the center of the heavy turrets lines (on the enemy ship trajectory). I build permanently mining fregates to have at least 7-10 permanently alive.
Then, I select the "fresh" ones with the "I" (population) tab (select fregates, then select the last ones in the list).
After that I do CTRL-N mining and I make a square from the current position of the fregate (near the transporter) up to the gate with a reasonable height to have all mines at reache of the arriving enemy ships.
With this "technique" you don't need to bother placing the fregate starting position and adjust the vertical position (which was a pain in my first tries).

Don't skip on capturing ships earlier.

for this mission on hard, after a few tries, i stopped doing what the intel says to defend the chock.

instead, i recall all deployed turrets at the immediate exit of the enemy and bring them back to the mothership , build additional guns and also deploy below the mothership. also, capture all DD's you encounter so far does help, and i think i capture pretty much everyone they throw at me, even some multi-beam too when the controller are free

Mine Frigates at the chokepoint (I used 5), lots of support frigates (~8), then max out a mix of Assault and Ion frigates. Keep your strikecraft back to attack those who breach to avoid wasting RUs.

You don't necessarily need to cap ships to beat it (I did it all conventionally), but it will save you RUs and give you added firepower.

Also make sure you have at least some forces left over if you win. It's not going to be good otherwise and you might have to come back to this mission.

If you aren't past ship limit, you already lost. I already had 4 destroyers captured at this point, and yes on hard. If you are fast at deploying you can place mine frigs behind the wall where the turrets are. If you calculate the size of the mine field in wall configuration the mine frigate will center itself of the field. You can get it right to where the frig is behind the wall but the mines are high enough to track ships.

Sounds like you are doing it wrong, they stay within the center of the field and continue to deploy mines till they are dead or if you move them away.
