Are Homeworld 3 coming to macOS?
Hi guys

For last few months I try to find this information, on developer site, their social media, no answers for any questions?

Is coming?
After release like all previous ones?
Not at all?
You didn’t decide yet?

Guys give us some answer.

I know mac gaming community is small but it’s growing year by year.

In worst case scenario folks can play via game porting tool kit, whiskey or parallels, but at cost of lover performance.
If will any hardcore DRM this can be hard as well.

Thx

If the information is not out there right after release date announcement, then answer is no.

Generally publishers like to let potential customers know that a money-spending opportunity is coming up - If they've not announced it, then you can assume it's not.

Maybe one day? Maybe they're still discussing it. Maybe they're just wanting to get the PC version out the door and will think about it in a couple of years time. Maybe never. Nobody will be able to answer a future unknown.

I think this release is poor timing for Mac users. There is no chance they will make it for Intel and if they make it AS only, the GPUs are still lacking except in the highest tiers. The potential player base would be tiny.

No. Macs are not meant for gaming and if they had a gaming system, it would be overpriced like everything else apple.
Check here after HW3 comes out and see if Proton can handle it -

https://www.protondb.com/

If yes, then install Ubuntu or Mint on a separate partition and install HW3 through Steam.

Strongly disagree.

Now I play exclusively on mac, Homeworld 3 will run, native way or thru translation layers. Losing 15-20 percent of performance, and this is my most concern case.

My question was about native release, not about that will run. Because will run without issue.

Mac users play in mac because they can`t afford a pc after buying a mac

I vaguely remember apple introducing something similar to rosetta translation layer that was specifically made for games

maybe they will in the future? I hope apple considers making a gaming handheld but they are too focused to ruin the iphone battery life

Modern Mac are more than capable of gaming. I am playing Baldur's Gate 3 with Ultra setting on my Macbook Air M2, using a 4k external monitor, with no issue.

Game porting toolkit, last year
And one this year WWDC they teased game porting toolkit 2.

In principal this is a developer tool, but… is easy to setup by non developers, and plenty of people are using it like mac proton equivalent, me as well. For my 95% of launched games works perfectly fine.

+1 but evade Ubuntu, its one of the worst Linux Distro's, because of snap+very old packages and the shady ubuntu/amazone affiliate deals, in the past.

Steam Hardware Overview showed MaxOS with 1,47% and Linux with 2,3%

Under Linux i wouldn't care about native Support, the performance with Steam Proton are equal to Windows Systems already (besides RTX effects).

How to run and install Linux and what Linux distro gives more performance? The answer is here:
