Is there a high likelihood of modding the War Games factions into Skirmish mode for greater replayability?

The reason I am asking is that I've been holding off from buying the game until it has addressed a lot of the core gameplay issues that made is subpar compared to the previous games in the franchise (Cataclysm was my favorite, I know, I'm part of the minority).

With the news that development has stopped 6 months into the release (RIP HW franchise) it looks like that won't happen anymore, so the only reason I will still buy the game is if the mods out there have the ability to 1) fix the bugs and 2) enable more playable factions in skirmish since all the resources are supposedly present already.

Or, is #2 not really a viable option because said factions' unique properties do not translate well to skirmish and are really war games-specific? I apologize in advance if some of my questions come off as ignorant, I have not been following up on the post-release development progress because of the negative reviews. And just told myself to check again in 6 months or so, so here we are...

Its most likely just not going to happen. Gearbox/Randy Pitchford basically killed the game intentionally. modders have already left and either gone back to HW:R or other games

That's too bad. thanks for the reply anyway. Was looking to try the game, too. Oh well, maybe when the price drops down to ungodly levels due to its abandonment.

The game is definitely still being modded. Modders don't appear to be leaving.

There is a mod already that puts War Games fleets into Skirmish mode already.

The War Games fleets aren't really balanced against the regular Skirmish fleets just due to lacking things like capital ships, but they can work fine playing against other War Games fleets.
