The game is subjectively a downgrade from previous games and RTS games
The game is a downgrade in all possible ways, except for visuals and music, from RTS games and Hw1 and 2.

I am a vet who played all Homeworld games and many RTS games. I also know tons of people in the community, so you can assume they share the same conviction.

Here are the subjective points:
1) Story really really bad...like super cringe, I skipped the last 4 missions cutscenes couldn't stand them (the same goes for many people)
2) Poor performance on High end machines
3) AI is bad in every way.......poor path finding.....constant retargeting and no firing.....some ships don't fire for some reason...ships getting stuck in megalith
4) No ballistics
5) A gameplay downgrade from Hw2, no mods or dedicated ships like defence field frigates
6) No strategic depth that is found in modern RTS like AOE4, it is bland build all and hope for the best
7) Megalith don't work as advertised and so far they are useless
8) Few unit types
9) Balance is wacky, Cruisers and Destroyers are useless while corvettes can shred MS in secs
10) Map size is small, Map pool is small
11) Fleet size is small and only 3v3 no 4v4 as promised earlier
12) In Skirmish just build and snipe MS to win....that is it

These are all subjective points and can be confirmed by everyone. It is a mega downgrade from pervious games and modern RTS games.

If you can't reply subjectively to the point above no need to reply. Only people who care about the game would criticise it openly and that might help improve.

peace

Homeworld was always for me a pinnacle of the sci-fi, the story telling, tge atmosphere... each level design...

It was to be expected. Adapted to the current mainstream.
Sea cucumbers are more demanding.
Today you have to support the stupidest people so that they don't feel
sad and discriminated against. Hence “simple food” for everyone.

Some people would be overwhelmed by reading the manual.
If any content is understood at all. :FS19potato: :2017tp:

But worse if it was made by Teletubbies for Teletubbies ;)
Directional arrows required on linear paths, gamepad support for PC.
Well, this is Soylent Green in real life and we are the "furniture" for our own money.
lol and they want 60 USD for a downgrade... oh how people have allowed this to happen... cant blame the devs if people constantly buy a subpar product lol.

Yeah this hits home. I was slapping the table and holding my forehead so often when playing the campaign. Just wanted to skip.

Never thought i'd see Dank of all people hate on newer Homeworld games.

HW3 really brought the community together lmao
The fan base is getting sent to Kharak, so we are united in our misery.

I have if i may, complete different opinnion. Im few missions deep in campaign and i really love it.
The Campaign starts good then it downgrades after you meet the main antagonist

I remember there was some fool on here who kept going on and on about. " Wait til you see the antagonist! " as if they had some inside knowledge and that it was going to be great.

I think that idiot thought we were going to see the beast again or something.

I really enjoy the campaign missions on hard mode and the graphics are a pleasure to look but I have a few criticicisms about the the story, AI and certain units such as destroyers and battlecruisers feeling incredibly underwhelming. The units are pretty lacking imo.

The story is okay, I wouldn't describe it as bad but it's been underwhelming for sure. You've seen this type of story a hundred times before. Some of the cinematics even gave me an impression of something you would see in games 20 years ago. I hope the future DLC's and Wargames will give the game some desperately needed depth, strategy and replayability because as it stands, it's definitely not worth the current pricetag.

Yalls expectations are absolutely wild. As a vet of the first 3 games... This is an upgrade in every possible away, across the board. This is what I personally have been wanting and waiting for. Absolutely wild. You $)#%*#$)* need to really figure out what it means to enjoy things in life. Instead of whine and complain about EVERYTHING.

Valid points overall.
I have an i9 and 4090 and the game is hitting 40 FPS max. Its only using 30% of my CPU and GPU..

So, thanks for the insight, had not bought anyway bc denuvo... waiting for sins of a solar empire 2, hopefully that one delivers...
Omg I totally forgot about Sins 2.. Its looking really good that ♥♥♥♥ was my top RTS/4X game back when I was a teen

Disjointed / confusing campaign story (no idea what that was about). Ciche script with no substance.
Ships battles are not fun; zerg and blob; no paper-rock-sissors that I can see.

Always too much resources on hand and, not like HW1/HW2 where the resources you earn/waste over the campaign really matters because it's finite.

Carriers are pointless; no value. Docking / undocking is pointless (let me dock my ships at the end of the mission before we warp? - no control) - HW1/HW2 you could dock the ships in a carrier and warp the carrier .. at least there was a point.

Maybe it's me, maybe I'm just getting old, but not as old as this game feels already.

I think you meant "objective" not "subjective" lol. Not saying I agree with you though. For a term you use so much you might want to understand what it means.
I was going to say, I do not think the OP knows what "subjective" means.

I've saved a lot of money lately by not jumping onto the presale bandwagon, money not spent on:

* KSP 2
* Starfield
* Elite Dangerous Odyssey
* City Skylines 2
* Dragon's Dogma 2
... and now:
* Homeworld 3

I should be disappointed, but that's actually a lot of money saved, especially considering how expensive new releases are these days! Ironically even as the cost has come down on some of those games, they are so bad that I haven't bought the ones that are "almost free" sale, because time is just as (if not more) valuable than money.
I got gamepass for that reason. I miss the early 2000s when devs released waaay better products. Now they push ♥♥♥♥ out because stupid people with money will pay for it. Thus they feel they can lower their standards and get away with it. I stopped buying games from certain studios and publishers now. I purposely wait for sales now I haven't spent more that 45 bucks on a game since 2017.. waiting is key

Yea its a no win scenario. Had they made it just like the previous games they would have gotten slammed for not innovating. If they make an all new game they get slammed for not being true to their fans.

I think its a good mix of new stuff and old, just some balancing issues that can absolutely be fixed post launch.
