HOMEWORLD 3 HAS BIG PROBLEMS

So, I loved the original series of games many years ago. I've just been looking at some independent reviews on youtube. There is some really well done analysis of this game. It has been pointed out that the combat/game-play mechanics are very flat and empty. Most of the abilities that ships can have are infinitely spam-able on short timers and there are many abilities you will want to use, so gameplay is going to be a matter of clicking to spam all these abilities as much as possible. Lacking in any real tactical significance or depth, just spam your abilities. Gameplay like that is going to be very disappointing very quickly. Also quite significant amounts of development staff got layed off around the time of the demo. without those staff how can they fix these problems. It is starting to look like the standard corporate degradation of modern games is striking again. Maybe its so they can push their shallow gameplay out to consoles that have to operate gameplay through those awful little "controlers". To get a much better explanation of exactly what I'm trying to express just type my comment title into youtube search. The guy explains it much better than me. I've taken this off my wishlist. I'm very disappointed. Shame on who ever made those decisions.

No I was thinking of getting this game. Paying for it right now. But I'm really glad I saw that game analysis because I've lost money on badly made games before. I'm just a gamer who has been ripped off too many times. Find out for yourself.

I love Homeworld and I have been waiting for this release for a long time.... I really hope they do not C&C 4 the game....

It's like some kind of disease. All these Super duper games getting ruined by executives thinking about the money. For me the gamplay is much more important than the graphics. Without decent gameplay mechanics the graphics are just shiny fluff.

people are basing all their impressions on old footage and a demo that only showcased one mode of the game, which has now been altered due to feedback. People need to wait for the finished product to make their mind up

OP, we've all seen Volound's video. However, most of the problems he pointed out have been addressed and, according to the developers, will be fixed on release. Here is the developer's response to the feedback for the demo:

theres no way youre basing off of a IGN review. they are the worst people to listen too for reviews.

Just what review are you talking about? There is no IGN review of the game yet... There was a review of the Homeworld VR game (different game) 6 days ago, and a month ago, an article about the demo. But there is no IGN review for Homeworld 3 at this point.
