The cutscenes and voice acting/script are truly the worst thing about the game.
With everything else having such high quality, why did they eff this up so bad...
Even having the same generic bad story but using drawn art, or even stills with narration, would have been much better.

Every time I see "Imogen" clinch her eyebrows while saying something overstrained I just wanna run the ship into the closest star. This is kids stuff ffs.


I enjoy the gameplay but with the shallow af War games, if I manage to force myself through the obnoxious story what else is there to do?

Agreed. The style they went for just doesn't suit Homeworlds tone/vibe at all.

The one they showed off in the game awards 2021 trailer would've been better. You know, the one where they had a completely different (and better) looking Imogen.

The rotoscoped style they went for in Deserts Of Kharak was the best though.

Look at that!, it looks so much better!

The drawn artstyle, a face that doesnt look like a cretin and just look how the hair actually moves! Attention and dedication was given to that teaser trailer, as compared to the cutscenes in the game which is absolute trash, whoever made the current cutscenes should be laid off and go searching for a different career.

If they couldnt bother to animate the hair why did they not have her hair shaved, which would be the reasonable choice in the situation a navigator is in.

As previous, im enjoying the gameplay but these cutscenes, acting and story is exactly as bad as everyone claims.

That version of Imogen isn't enough of a "real woman" for the higher ups at Gearbox who meddled with the creative process here.

I'm watching the game on YouTube before I make up my mind about buying it, but holy hell the plot stinks of Young Adult writing. And "Sands and Sinners." Really? What a ridiculous and stupid stand-in for an expletive.
