You don't need Denuvo.
Using Denuvo is like admitting you have no confidence in your product's ability to incentivize a purchase from the pirates on its own. One thing I realized recently is that not a single game with Denuvo ever ended up Steam's top seller for any given year. (Why is Denuvo Anti-Tamper a problem?)

Palworld is currently breaking every sales record on Steam and is completely DRM-free. Last year's best selling title Baldur's Gate 3 was DRM-free, 2022 was the year of Elden Ring - no Denuvo there, 2021's most popular title Valheim was DRM-free, 2020 best selling title Hades was DRM-free, as well as Slay the Spire in 2019, Rimworld in 2018, Hollow Knight in 2017, Stardew Valley in 2016, The Witcher 3 in 2015...

I'm gutted as I've been desperately waiting for the return of Homeworld for years. I'm also a big fan of Black Bird Interactive's job on Shipbreaker who happens to be available DRM-free as well. People love this universe... and they evidently love DRM-free games, so please let them a chance to prove it to you by skipping the usual pitfalls of counter-productive AAA management.

drm's are a joke and always have been. as example: the last sim city....always online....hacked and on piratebay day 1 with offline play while actual owners couldnt even play it for weeks. every drm games insta cracked and on piratebay day 1 meanwhile legitimate users cant play because of it and its problems :/ not supporting pirates but the only people who suffer from these useless drm's is legitimate owners

Makes no difference. Remember that uncracked does not mean unpirated. People have mutliple means to pay less or at all for games nowadays so customers only pay what they actually want to pay for, DRM or not. Denuvo hasn't been relevant in a long while but Irdeto is in no rush to disclose this to their paying customers.

Same way as Sweet Baby Inc fools companies to use their services because otherwise the game would flop because of the lack of diversity.

You equate paying less to pirating?

Still a few hours ago, I would have objected it's different but I just watched a video of the SBI's CEO explaining how to use fear-mongering to impose their vision and make money off it so, yes, that's actually exactly how Irdeto sells Denuvo.

No, but that idea that you're getting more sales by making your product worse is completely backwards.

I'm properly amazed. One guy just spent about 20k points to give each and every one of my comments a jester award.

Thanks for the points and the attention - keep 'em coming, you missed a few comments. :happyotus:

If you are concerned about Denuvo reducing your game performance, you might want to look at upgrading your rig. The only time it'll ever even remotely have the possibility of noticeable impact is if you are on the borderline minimum specs, and even then it is questionable at best. It is no worse than the analytics shoved into most modern games, and even to some degree overlays you already use, which hook into the games directly...

Necroposting slightly to this, but nice deflection bud. Most people can't AFFORD a new rig. Inflation exists, and is currently ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ everyone over globally. So get your head out of your ass, if that's your only solution. Sure i don't mind denuvo to an extent, (Its not as bad a Nprotect for Helldivers) but saying its a rig issue, and for people to simply upgrade is braindead at worst, clueless at best.

I wishlisted this game as soon as I saw it on Steam, and after this it's been removed from that and put on the ignore list instead, and there it will stay until Denuvo is removed. GG for many lost sales, Gearbox!

let's be honest, it's overpriced, have Denuvo... Go buy it on black market. It's what I will do. I will not support Denuvo.
No Denuvo? I'll bought it on Steam, else, go f yourself :)
Elitewrecker PT 17 mar. 2024 às 7:15
If you buy it from other places you'll still have denuvo though.

I think their point is that they at least are not rewarding them for it. These days pirates can just buy an offline activation for a buck or two and get all the convenience of Steam, albeit temporarily. Pirates don't care about Denuvo, they just want to play for nothing or so little, it doesn't matter whether they get to keep the game or not.

I know I'm a broken record on this but as always, it's paying customers who get the short end of the stick in this.
