Found a fix so your game will start

I think I found a way to get Crazy Machines 2 to work.

1.) Go into wherever you installed Crazy Machines 2

2.) Find cm2.exe and go into its properties

3.) Go under Compatability tab

4.) Select Windows XP (Service pack 3)

5.) Done!

Also try to re-install all the drivers like PhysX again and see if that helps.

I sware to God they do not ready support tickets! In my ticket I clearly post to them I am running the newest drivers..

Well I got a reply and a refund from Steam for this title today.. Im happy see that thay at least did that.. I would have rather got the game to work butat least Im not out 29$.

How did you achieve to get a refund? I'll follow the same path since what we all bought is practically a defective product.

how'd you get a refund? steam just blows me off and gives me some stupid generic responce like go to the developer page AFTER i stated the page they have gives a 404 error, they didn't read crap of mine and just gave me a bunch of generic responces.

This is obvious a problem with the steam database.

Bought Crazy Machines Complete (German) in October. I think in the US it's called Everithing Pack. Downloaded Crazy Machines, Crazy Machines 1.5 Inventors Training Camp, Crazy Machines 1.5 New from the Lab and Crazy Machines 2 back then without any problems.

Tried to download CM Elements in December and it only downloads the 2 DLCs. After uninstalling the other parts and reinstalling them there are only downloaded the DLCs too. Thanks I got a Backup and still have the first parts complete.

If you look at the appmanifests you could see that the Steam Database is obvious broken.

if you examine appmanifest_18400.acf you will see:

The Depot for the main Files (18401) and the Depots for the localization are missing. Same applies to the the manifest of the other parts. In CM and CM 1.5 no Depots are mounted and so nothing will be downloaded.

It seems the downloads work again. When I started Steam it reported the games are updating. It Downloaded 296 MB for Crazy Machines 2 (now 672 MB), 43 MB for Crazy Machines, 53 MB for New from the lab and 41 MB for Inventors Training Camp. After this I was able to download Crazy Machines Elements (295 MB). All working.

I think at least steam owns us an apology for the mostly useless support.

Which Package do you own? I have Crazy Machines Complete in German. I wonder if the definition for diferent packages are broken and so the error does not applie to all users. After all Mihawk send my analysis to steam support so they maybe only fixed the german package.

By the number of users who have this error i don't think that some antivirus software or personal firewalls deleting executables or blocking downloads ist the problem.

However this won't help if the error is in the steam database. And normaly steam should do this automatically at start if the updates are not turned off.

I also bought the Crazy Machines Complete Pack, but in english...I wonder if that's the difference. A very strange one if so. Will try the local database fix, but I'm skeptical...


edit: confirmed, it didn't change anything. It's kind of unfortunate that support doesn't actively monitor these boards, since we managed to come up with the solution. Will keep trying with them.
