Found a fix so your game will start

I think I found a way to get Crazy Machines 2 to work.

1.) Go into wherever you installed Crazy Machines 2

2.) Find cm2.exe and go into its properties

3.) Go under Compatability tab

4.) Select Windows XP (Service pack 3)

5.) Done!

Also try to re-install all the drivers like PhysX again and see if that helps.

Hmm... Try going into the files and running cm2.exe from there and se if that helps. Also try to go to http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/9.13.0725/PhysX-9.13.0725-SystemSoftware.msi and downloading the newest PhysX, and go into where you installed it then go into Openal and run oalinst.exe

Have you tried running as administrator? also try re-installing it and doing all the above, also what are your pc specs?

Hello, Few things to note... In this newest release the ADD ON folder is no longer packed into this verson of the game so you wont find the physX or the oalinst.exe in our verson if you bought it in say the last few months. I know this becuase I own a older version of the software and it was in there but not in newer version.

I have also installed the legacy drivers Yellow talks about above with still no luck.

My comutper is very new, this is was I have..

Intel I7 4770 - Nvida GTX760 - 16 gig ram - WIN7 Pro - DX11 -DX10 and DX9 is installed -

I have all the newest Nvidia drivers and PhysX drivers you can get. I also installed openAL32 -

I have ran this Administrator and have tried EVERY compatablitiy mode there is.

I have a worse computer than you and mine runs fine, it looks like you deleted something. Mine wasn't even working before either but my error report was different. It looks like you can't get through the setting up input device. Try to download this http://www.nvidia.com/object/ageia_8.04.25_whql.html and see if that helps, if it doesn't than comment again.

Don't purchase. On my Win 7 machine it was first missing a file. Steam was no help, told me to talk to the actual software company. They pointed me to a site where I could get the OpenAl file. Then I started getting the cm2.exe error. Steam will not offer a refund, the software maker suggested compatability mode (which I had already tried, but tried again) and then pointed me to a patch file that said it couldn't find crazy machines installed on my computer.

Severly disappointed as I wanted this for my kids and hours of troubleshooting later I'm no closer to a solution and still out the $$.

and no, we didn't "delete" any important files and have reinstalled, etc

The normal Nvidia PhysX driver is no help for this game. It only contain PhysX for SDK 2.7.1, 2.7.3 and above. The game itself uses PhysX SDK 2.6.3 which is only contained in the PhysX Legacy Installer, well hidden under a remark on the linked Nvidia website. I hate Nvidia for this. There is also no need for compatibility mode. The game works fine in Windows 7 64-bit.

The error log from the game says that some files in the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Crazy Machines 2\UI\ are missing or corrupted.

In my installation there are the following files in this folder:

demo.fst
keys.fst
local.fst
professor.fst
text.fst
ui.fst
uiparticles.fst
v01.wmv
v02.wmv
icons\icons.fst

The game also seems to miss the refered %theme%.fst-files in the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Crazy Machines 2\themes

You can let steam check if the files are downloaded complete. Right-click on the game in steam. Select properties - local files. Theres an option for checking the local files.

The only file in my \UI\ folder is local.fst.

As I mentioned in the other thread, I've tried allowing steam to check for errors, and that didn't work. I've also deleted local content and redownloaded several times - nothing.

hey jpfosterx, have the same problem. There are many missing files and i cant download it, My cm2 file ist just 380 mb big ! Thats defently not right

Crazy Machines 2 folder is supposed to be 542 MB in total. I see that you've tried re-installing it, but just to make sure, delete local game content and the Crazy Machines 2 folder. I honestly have no idea why your download is so little.

I reinstall it already 2 times and delete all files from crazy machines and cleaned my regestry

If you go into your common folder with the Crazy Machines 2 folder, right click it, look at properties, how many MB does it say?
