New Tortuga - Furies squad (might contain spoilers)
Does anybody figured out how to interact with them?

  • We got that question mark on their "home" (motel)
  • When entering the motel, we are told that they can be interacted with at the arena fights
  • During arena fights (of the player) they can be seen observing the fights

I read somewhere that they can be "persuaded" to not be a threat during the rebellion. But the question is: how does one do that? When is the moment and place these guys can be interacted with?

So far I did this:
  • Before joining Cartel: won all three fights as "best" (won all bets under 15 seconds, became champion)
  • After joining Cartel: won fight against "special" Spider -> no further interaction with the arena leader
  • After joining Cartel: "lost" fight against "special" Spider-> no further interaction with the arena leader

My guess was that I have to be "the best of the best" in the arena in order to trigger them AND then fight them in the bot arena (not the gang arena) or something ...

Would appreciate any help! :steamhappy:

How I did it:
First to the arena, then to the hotel. I bought shotguns, then returned to the arena manager. In the dialogue with him, a new line is to invite the Furies to watch the fight.
After the battle there will be a dialogue and a duel between the sergeant and the mercenaries.

Unfortunately you cannot recruit the Furies but if you manage to kill them you will be rewarded with a Van with an ATGM when you liberate the armory

Sniper squad is actually from getting rid of mad mike if I'm not mistaken. The Furies are described as the anti-tank team.

I have save scummed this one 10 times and lose the Furies match everytime. Yes, I have the plasma shotguns. Just going to assume its broken like so many other parts of this scripting nightmare.

it's not broken, it's just 100% RNG based. I've had both complete losses, and winning without any deaths on my side for them.

Yeah, the RNG stuff has IMHO no place here. Would be better if it's just like the arena fights were you have full control over your team. RNG on a slot machine -> no problem. But on crucial mission material -> no thanks.

Honestly, I don't get why they didn't simply use the main arena for those fights as well...

this is one of the spots where I will cry bad game design.. it should either be scripted losses, like 1-2 men, or give you control of your units... giving you actual sway in the outcome of the fight

Nope, it's broken. 10x without a single success (and you're claiming there can be a range of successful results) on Storymode is broken. There isn't any other way to look at this. Something in the heavily scripted mission went haywire and success is statistically unlikely at best for me. That's broken and garbage game "design."

It's strange that this didn't come up during the beta test. And in my recent playthrough, I killed the Furies (on hard) without any problems.

The weapons on the characters disabled for any reason? Are the stances altered? These actually affect the duel and can't be changed during the duel.

No, they are all the default setting, weapons enabled and stance shield/sword.

I also did this duel several times and I always lost 2 guys.
The only way to lose all duels is pressing esc to skip them, your guys just all die.
Think about disableling esc for those duels
