Technicians vs Drivers
Is it me or are Technicians better than drivers? Cheaper to maintain and with a wider skill set.

Drivers have better vehicle skills. Technicians are more versatile

techies are diet engineers. drivers get the perks for faster driving and better damage with vehicle guns.

basically: always put drivers/tank crews/pilots in the high value units like Bradley/Abrams/Blackhawk/m109sph/cartel tanks.

techies can drive everything else just fine

Do drivers get an upgrade to make them a four man unit? Technicians do and it allows them to drive heavier vehicles. like the tanks.

Technicien can ask for air strike when they are available, they can unlock AT / HE mines, AT mines did help a lot against heavy armored in santa FE . They can even unlock the ability to drive tanks or helicopter but there perks is pushing u to use them as sapper / airstrike i would say use them for tank or helicopter as a back up.
But remember when u increase any squad it will increase the upkeep by 100/ peer unit added

It's a nice balance, drivers cost 600 supp, can get 20% movement speed and/or 20% fire rate but can't drive tanks/heli
technicians cost 300 supplies but can drive tanks/heli and lay mines wich be used to create defensive barriers.
tank operators can drive tanks and get 20% movement and 20% fire rate.
It's a huge difference in all cases since a truck driver that can deliver ammo 20% faster is a real asset.
or the starter humvee with the minigun, steel armor and a light platform can do wonders.
Another important note is that your Finders units are ireplaceable( meaning drivers, snipers etc) so if you lose them, their movement counterparts are weaker.
thus require huge amount of management to setup everything before after missions
