Does anybody know if there will be any other ways to get these besides trading and doing main missions? Might be worth modding in side missions at outposts to get some side cash, at least that's what I think.

Sell excess gear. After i clear each map of enemies i have my troops pickup every vehicle, trailer, and gun platform i can tow just to sell afterwards. Also sell excess troops. .
After mission 5 i have 32000 goodwill points and everyone and their vehicles upgraded and supplies already to get to the next place. Heavy gun platforms and trailers sell the best.
I keep trucks in my army just for this purpose.

Thanks, good to know. Do you have any recommendations for what units to give vic/tank training to? Or just technicians/drivers?

Most vehicles can be driven by any smaller squads. Heavy weapons, rpg, snipers. Use them to mount any truck, van, gun platform or pickup truck. But do it after all objectives are done and you just need to leave afterwards. That way you still have those units to fight. Leave your tank training to technicians, and tank crews. The only tanks i found so far that needed tank crews were Abrams and Bradleys. I have a driver/technician or two in training for tank driving in case i find another though. Drivers and technicians can drive all other armoured vehicles without training though.
Oh, and for some reason gun platforms and trailers will be left behind on the map if you leave the zone without crews. So crew them up with snipers, rpg or heavies as well before you leave otherwise you lose the ability to sell them.. Any unit that has 3-4 in the team works. I just remove them before i sell them afterwards.
There is plenty of left over hardware after the missions. I pickup everything i can and i leave it till after the mission so my fighters are there to fight.
Making bank this way. I have everyone on my team fully upgraded and i bought the upgrades for vehicles with plenty of left over funds. Still keep your team small though. I justr have all the armoured vehicles with a 2x humvee's to trailer the smaller gun platforms and 4 trucks to trailer the bigger trailers. Might need more though as i still have to leave some behind because i don't have enough vehicles to grab everything.
