The suffering of the weak, I play on maximum difficulty, the game is not very difficult, but interesting +)
This will make the game less popular, as regular players won´t buy it then....
Even on the easiest difficulty, your soldiers are still only slightly tougher than the basic bot, and 'stealth' isn't a great idea because there's no visual indicators of enemy sightlines besides 'they don't see you' and 'you're dead'.
I like the game, it's a cool idea, but if they wanted to go for the XCOM vibe, your soldiers need to be a hell of a lot tankier, and if they wanted to go for the Company of Heroes vibe, your troops and vehicles need to be a whole lot more easily replacable.
Why should they´ve had XCOM in mind? Thats a totally different genre with permanent base buidling, research, RPG soldier development and most important: TURN BASED COMBAT!
I don´t know why everybody comes with XCOM when we talk about the huge strategy genre
The game does prompt you that f5 is quick save. You will probably be save scumming the first few missions.
- Get used to the controls.
- Make some soldiers or grunts.
- Attack the enemy.
- Scale up as the campaign progresses.
That is fun. The difficulty curve could scale differently from game to game. There is still a curve.
This game doesn't really have that type of learning curve. The player is role playing as a Lieutenant. You are supposed to know things. There wasn't a training. They skipped your bootcamp, more or less. There is a pause button and they prompt you to quick save. You may need that. Every time you make it to a place where there is story progression, you should probably quick save.
I get the idea of going against a superior threat as a resistance force, but geez. Maybe its just me and I'm so used to playing base building RTSs for so many years and not this here are your 6 units, now defeat the map and don't die. It's rough.
(ATGM guy is the MVP, I lose him its pretty much hopeless lol)
