How do you pickup a weapon on the ground?
First mission after escape there is a spot where there is a weapon on the ground, a machine gun, i assume i can take it and equip later but could not find a way to take it... no unit interacted with it.

Some weapons can only be grabbed by infantry that can actually use it, if you want to get a recoilless rifle you need a heavy weapons team or simillar, snipers or sharpshooters to get a .50 cal sniper, etc

You should really be able to pick up and store weapons to distribute/sell later. It makes no sense to just leave it there, even if the unit itself can't operate the weapon.

the game economy imo will break, even without being able to pick up everything i always hire a bunch of trash units that are commmon to pick up those weapons and i sell their weapons before entering the missions...

During mission all of them get teir 1 or 2 weapons and once you sell those weapons you pay back not only the unit cost and upkeep but keep some extra profit... imagine if you didnt even need the units? you'd have a ton of money...

The way they can fix it imo is have the concept of "used weapon/worn out weapon" so that stuff you pick up is worn out and costs less to sell... but is functionally identical to new weapon if you just equip and use it.

Well, one option is:
left on the map only the weapons you can get. In practice this would mean that if you have 3 Heavy weapons unit, afer you rearm them, the other available weapons, vanish.
And somewhere in the UI you point out how many weapons are still available to pick after the last objective is reached in the mission.

for money making you want to grab bunch of sniper units and just strip them from eqipment except few of them that you actually level up... they make a lot of money

each one will probably get you a sniper to sell and a vehicle...

I have had infantry and ranger squads try to pick up items in the Abiqui mission. But either I'm not doing it right or there is a bug in the code. Mind you this is after the van has been delivered and the crates are ready and waiting. Did the civilians just take all the guns and ammo ? What about my squads that need more supplies and gear ?

It seems the campaign missions need some more polish and I know there will be more fixes and balancing as time goes on, but I'm having a hard time playing through this mission. Not enough resources to equip my army from the Haven exit.

Will wait to see if there are any new updates coming in the near term. But for now may just play skirmish mode and learn the different types of units and abilities much better.

Happy coding.

There is no doing it wrong, you click on the weapon and let the unit (one of the people in the unit) run to it and swap the weapon.

Note you can only pick up one, so even though you have 2 snipers only one will pick up that .50 cal...

You can verify when you see ammo types change, you'll see one has .300 cal one has .50cal.

Nothing else to it.

All the equipment you buy from the trader is transformed into a militia and a RPG-squad. Weapons you can actually pick up are on the ground with a grey circle around them. If you select a unit with the corresponding weapon slot, it is highlighted.

Yes, you don't receive enough to fully equip your force after Haven. Thats kind of the point. You only "need" to reequip four units anyway, you can do it with less. The core of the strategic campaign is to manage supply. Descide which units you can afford to keep and which ones to sell. It is in a very good place at the moment.

Skirmish is not a good way to learn how to play the campaign. You have less options, less unit mixing, no XP ranks, less or no abilities, less equipment, etc.
