As HitMan says this game is featured in the Legion / terminator dark fate timeline which is the one i assume the developers got the license for to create.
Personally I like what they did with Defiance compared to the movie dark fate, this game is a much better story in my opinion.
instantly gains attention and clout by buying rights to the word "terminator"
Perhaps its a case of 'Play it, before you ♥♥♥♥♥ about it.'
Agree on the story part, but sadly if you dont see terminators, which is what makes ppl want to buy games, movies or books... it will fail, is like releasing the last Robocop game without Robocop.
Anyway, maybe the game is good, but calling it Terminator without terminators, not even as a commando unit?
All this of course, if indeed the game doesnt have any terminator
