ah that one yes. It is one of the harder fights at first sight. But you can do it very easy with mines, airstrikes, and the heavy gun plattform you get during the mission as a gift.

Is there a way to get mines that early? I don't think its possible unless you spec technicians into mine laying.
Yeah, it's technicians. Game for some reason makes players think that technicians are primarily drivers - they are not. They are discount founder engineers and thier main focus should be laying mines, throwing smokes/emp and other side works for main army. They are good in platforms though due to their perk of speeding up deployment.

Sure they can crew tanks and helicopters, but that's it and there are not that many tanks and helicopters that you'll need to pilot. Other than that they are no better drivers as rpg/heavy/sharpshooter teams. Also, as a side note, their tank piloting upgrade improves the amount of mines they can lay at the same time and the amount they have, since it increase their squad number by 1.

You should have at least one or two technicians at level 1-2 by that mission, grabbing antitank mines is a good utility pick for them.

Yes, the only way is to use mine laying perk on the technician. But I rather use C4 on Ranger for that. A van with 2 C4 rangers can plant a ton of C4s. Technician is more useful with tank driving skill.

We have the enginner from tortuga mission, the hacker squad.

I disagree, a trap is something actually detrimental. Not forcing you to learn how to use other units is not a detriment.

It's an expensive multitool and a beginner crutch.
A good player won't need it but anyone else can just hold on until they can deploy it and resolve most issues with it.

Besides if you don't learn how to use your army every mission that doesn't start you with it you probably won't learn even if you scrap it.

But when I look around and see how many players complain about the supply costs of their army and can't handle it, as well as how the later missions "Oklahoma" are probably too difficult for many, I would say that it was a detrimental factor.

I want to point out again, the first Abram tank is driven by 3 Rev-6 Terminators, which according to the ingame wiki description can drive AND use any vehicle. But why do they just leave the operational tank?

Especially since these units are clearly based on the T-800 from the original series. One of the biggest tasks of the T-800 was to infiltrate and sabotage humans.

Yeah but makes a good tank crew as well. But we are talking about the legion convoy mission which is mission 2

two plasma abrams, two plasma bradleys all with ceramic armor one tank truck (cartel enough), two ammunition trucks. And you can handle every map. That Abrams is a real killer. I wouldn't have been able to finish the game without him.

What? Abrams is one of the most useful units in the game. A push of like 3-4 Abrams can basically do any ingame objective by themselves.
For first part of game (I just finished Vega) Abrams is simply greatest. Bradleys get a lof of fire power (and AT-rockets!) but get damaged easily, but Abrams can just stay (or slowly go forward) and soak a lot of.
And it get a nice cannon and a nice machine gun (in Vega I changed cannon to plasma but now I think it worse).
From the start of game Abrams is the core of my army.

playing on hard

Abrams are only "traps" for players who didn't figure out how to balance the supply system, as it is indeed easy to go overboard with cost early game if you also keep too many light and medium vechicles around for no reason. They are tanks, so naturally best at, well... tanking mostly. Bradleys are more versatile, but better to have something in front of them to take Legion tank and AT Spider shots.
After Oklahoma I basically went full armor brigade: 3 Abrams + 4 Bradleys + The Sherman + artillery as the main force, a single APC and a Blackhawk to ferry engineers around, and 4-5 squads of various infantry just to take key buildings and do recon. Still under 90k supply per day, so no issues.

It is out of fuel.

I'd also like to know why it has no ammo either... the fuel part sorta makes sense, but why would they drive around a tank with no ammo?

Dialog between Legion and captured Founders soldier
- ...
Soldier: You are not right, this Abrams have a lot of ammo!
Legion: I'm apologize for the mistake. You are correct, this Abrams have a lot of ammo. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

Because it's a trap. You don't wanna arm the people falling into the trap. Those Rev-6 would not stand a chance against it if it had ammo.
I don't see the Abrams as a trap... sure it costs a lot of supplies... but there are worse units to waste your supplies on, like HEMTTs, 2,000 supply per day, and for what? I'd also very much like to see someone complete Galveston without any abrams...
