Balzano is a picky bastard
Trying to side with Balzano in Abiquiu... but it seems like no matter what I do, at the end of the mission hes mad at me. I sided with him against the movement, legion attacked, his forces retreated... hes still there, but I cant talk to him, and no matter what, at mission end hes mad

the best decision is to ignore him and never speak to him, you still get his stuff after he leaves

Ive been told that siding with him does several things outside of Abiquiu, which I see as incredibly beneficial

1: He offers you an abrams tank for an HEMTT in Oklahoma,

2: he assists you in Galveston

3: he's needed for an achievement alongside Kelso at the end of the campaign

He offers the Abrams for HEMTT even if you ignore him.

all 3 points for that only requires him to be alive at the end of Abiquiu. That's the only requirement. If anything, working against him but letting him live makes the most sense narritively, because he's always angry at you. I think it might be a bug, because even if you do side with him and wipe out movement, he still says "let the chromes and movement fight it out, it's what they want" even though there isn't any movement.

Interesting, at the end of Abiquiu, he did his whole "so your the big bad now eh" speach... but if he just needs to be alive... I already have one of the most optimal starts possible, so I guess just keep using that save.

EDIT: Does he ask for a specific kind of HEMTT? or can any HEMTT grabbed from a prior mission be used?

You take Abrams for free if you don't give him anything. (kill him and take his tank)

I never seen Transport HEMTT before Oklahoma. It's great 20+ man transport with around 3-5k ammo. Leave it for yourself.

Yeah but then he won't show up later to help you out. Also, if you're not careful and especially if you don't know, you might blow up the Abrams by accident. Transport HEMTT are quite useless anyway so it's not really a loss.
Even if you want one, there is two available in total in Oklahoma.

What kind of help he will offer? I'm already to far to fix something, and will not replay from begging at least this year.

I already baited Founders and Balsano to fight Legion, and stole Bradley, Abrams and got my 2 Transport HEMTT.

so the best option is to basically just piss balzano off till the last mission? side with the movement in abiquiu, deny him the HEMTT, take the abrams from him by force...
