Opinion on Plasma weapon variant?

I feel like some plasma weapon is just a sidegrade or even a downgrade so I just want to know how other people think and if I'm missing something

Twin Light Plasma - honestly feels like a downgrade since the base 120mm is so good at everything. It's slightly better on Abrams when attacking, but it's horrible for defending.
Heavy Plasma - Upgrade for Heavy Platform, sidegrade for Abrams

Light Plasma - Generally speaking it's an upgrade, feels like it's better against building than the base 25mm.

Plasma Recoilless - Only useable on heavy weapons team. The normal recoilless is good enough for any light vehicle and it got HE for supporting infantry.
Plasma Heavy Machine Gun - Overall upgrade, though keep in mind of the less range, and the base 50 cal is good enough.

Plasma Assault Rifle - absolutely horrible, only useable for militia or CQC urban combat. Only use them when it's Legion mission and replacing M4.
Plasma Machine Gun - honestly not bad......the decreased range is not a killer.
Plasma shotgun - simple upgrade.
Plasma Sniper - It's an ehhh. The 50 cal is good enough.

The Plasma MG on Heavy Squads is great for locking down Legion reinforcement waves, too. Same goes for humans with the Minigun or the standard Browning, which lets you loot a dropped weapon before you leave too. If there's a path where the enemy spawns cheap reinforcements like Bandidos, Milicia, Homunculi, or Dogs, one squad in a building is more than enough to take care of it.

As said above, if you put them on Defensive and have them hide, they can also deal with Spiders pretty well if you let them get in range. Easy to farm XP for them this way, which gets you the +1 member upgrade which makes them even more effective, etc.

Also make great "spare" drivers at the end of a mission.

I honestly think any of the Abrams upgrades seems pointless as it removes the coaxial gun, and the normal abrams cannon is very multipurpose.
Light plasma is objectively best Bradley gun.
As for infantry weapons, plasma is short ranged (bad) but also can melt vehicles (good!)

recoilles heat : this one is tricky since it scales with level of the operator:

lvl5: ap90 cm599 he30 1-4:fr40 0.5:fl50
so casual recoilles looks superior on paper.

Heavy plasma removes the MG though, which isn't great.

I like Twin plasma on Abrams, it makes him mediocre vs any targets, fast fire rate and a lot of ammo. Main difference i see is "plasma has more ammo or just 1 type of ammo".

Plasma Sniper is best anty-everything that infantry has.
Plasma Machine Gun just has same range as assault rifles and it generally boost vs termintators.

But the rest feels like a downgrade or pointless sidegrade. Like a Plasma shotgun for example, i never used them on 2 engi squads. Range of shotguns too low and they a bad at mele.

It's certainly disappointing how Plasma weapons doesn't feel all that much better in general. The only plasma weapons you can notice a considerable change in damage are the infantry versions, especially with the shotguns but when it comes to the vehicle weapons they don't feel that much better than the conventional weapons.

The only weapon that really makes you feel powerful is the railgun and despite it's disadvantages it feels so damn good to one shot tanks and never miss any target.

I did use Twin Plasma on Abrams and it's good against human because you don't face heavy armor. But once the Legion Tank appears, you really need that 120mm AP.

All roof mounted guns are a noobtrap, they expose your gunners and you lose 2/4 crew because of it.

I don't recommend putting the plasma HMG on the abrams because for some reason the secondary gun on the abrams has like 50% the ammo it would have if you put it on any other vehicle. It seems you should put something that is long range since its a rooftop gun and one that has a high efficiency. It doesn't seem like there's a good item to put there since there isn't much that doesn't overspecialize the abrams (i.e plasma RR or a regular RR).
