Silencing the guns in a cartel mission
spoiler warning

After 10+ tries I decided to take a break. Human-wave swarming the hill, using smoke, artillery... all failed. There's 3+ ATGM there and tons of dug in infantry. I cannot make it to the guns. Any tips? Got no helicopter. Medium difficulty.

your not meant to make it to the guns or go up the hill you should try to go around the back of the hill near the player units spawn with the engineers it gives u to blow it up through the back entrance after that it blows the entrenched troops and the ai does more waves to push through, after it blows the leaders will try to flee to the car park to get picked up by legion delis i recommend using arty to kill them before they depart in the helis

Silencing the guns mean that you need to take the long way around plus just bring infantry squad and rangers inside 2 of your vehicles (bradley and stryker is what brought alongside with the engineers) after that all of your main put it into the side of the whole map (near the parking lot)

Use a helicopter :lunar2019grinningpig:

Just kiddin ^^

Here is what I just tried for you (loaded an old autosave to proof my theory)
- Take 3 Humvees with .50
- Take 1 Humvee with minigun
- Take 1 Bradley with 20mm + ATGM
- Take 1 Infantery squad
- Take 1 sniper squad
- Take 1 ATGM squad (manually used on enemy vehicles if the Bradley ATGM didn't land a hit)
- Turn difficulty to Story mode*

  • I started the mission from scratch and liberated the barracks by just selecting all my units (basically all the units minus the Bradley I listed above) to storm the first barricade with an attack move (Hotkey Q).
  • My reinforcements used in the barrack assault were one light howitzer and the Dozer with an armored trailer - but I assume you already have the barracks, so I skip details here.
  • I then took the red route (see my screenshot #1) with the Humvees leading the attack. It was a simple move order - the units are shooting on their own. One Humvee got disabled and I lost one sniper.
  • I repaired all the damaged vehicles and moved on.
  • The yellow route I did with the whole group, basically again a move order.
  • The blue route I did with infantery only - because of the enemy ATGM squad. In the meantime my vehicles were hammering the building on the hill. All in all the road now is clear to bring in the rebel engineers to their goal.

*If everything else fails, this is a viable option!

Cool, thanks all! thanks zpc for the detailed input. I'll see what I can do, for now taking a short break, this game is a hardcore puzzle more often than not :steamfacepalm:
